Commercial kitchen extraction cleaning in Brown Candover

Duct Doctor has been cleaning kitchen extract systems since 2009. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 and are fully insured. The work covers plenums and filters, extract fans and vertical risers, and people most often call us about a kitchen with no current TR19 certificate and grease drips onto cooking equipment. Most calls from Brown Candover come after an insurer, an EHO or a fire officer asks to see the last TR19 certificate. We handle the clean and the paperwork in one visit.

How the visit works

We turn up at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool before work begins, and the area around the work is covered and protected. On site, it takes as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits. The timing of a visit to Brown Candover is set by you, and the travel is our side of the planning.

  1. First comes a survey of the whole system, by pictures or a visit.
  2. We measure the grease at set points along the system, then give you a fixed price.
  3. Once the kitchen has closed and the equipment has cooled, we sheet and protect the area.
  4. Canopy, plenum, filters, duct runs, risers, fan and discharge are all cleaned to TR19® Grease.
  5. We test again, photograph the result and issue your TR19 certificate and photo report.

Getting ready for the visit

Different parts, different methods

Canopy and plenum

Grease meets the system first at the canopy and the plenum behind the filters. We clean both inside and out, with the filter housing cleaned too.

Extract fan and discharge

The discharge is where air leaves the building, which can collect grease and stain the surface around it. It’s cleaned as far as safe access allows, and any limits are recorded.

Brown Candover questions

Do you work overnight in Brown Candover?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. That way a site in Brown Candover does not have to lose a day’s trading. When you ring 0345 646 2711 or email us, mention when the site is quiet.

Can you get to a site in Brown Candover?

Yes, Brown Candover is part of our area, however small the site. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Regular plans can run on 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycles, depending on what the system needs.

Are you a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member?

We are members of Vent Hygiene Elite, the scheme run by BESCA, and we clean to BESA TR19® Grease. We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 too, and we’re fully insured.

What’s TR19?

TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. TR19® Grease, a standalone specification since 2019, covers grease in kitchen extract systems, and TR19® Air covers general supply and extract systems.

What happens if you cannot reach some of it?

We never leave them off the paperwork. You will know exactly which parts weren’t reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Some photos and a quick description of the system, with the address and opening hours. If we need more, we’ll ask.

Does the law say I must clean to TR19?

No law names TR19 directly, but the Fire Safety Order 2005 does require the responsible person to manage fire risk. TR19 is the standard insurers and fire officers expect, and many policies require it.

Common problems we fix in Brown Candover

How fast grease builds up depends mostly on how long the kitchen cooks each day. BESA guidance sets minimum cleaning intervals of every 3 months for 12 to 16 hours a day, 6 months for 6 to 12 hours, and 12 months for 2 to 6 hours. Those are minimums, and grease readings can show a kitchen needs cleaning sooner.

Common reasons sites call us are:

  • Cleaning needed before an insurance renewal or survey
  • A kitchen with no current TR19 certificate
  • An inspection that picked up a dirty extract
  • Poor airflow at the canopy

A TR19® clean in Brown Candover doesn’t stop at the filters: the plenum, ductwork, fan and discharge are cleaned too.

What your quote should include

  • Whether a written report and pictures are included
  • Whether the price is fixed
  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • Whether they recommend a next date

How to choose an extract cleaning contractor

Fixed quotes for kitchen extract cleaning in Brown Candover

We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:

  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
  • What state the system is in

What you pay reflects the actual work. That is why every job is surveyed first, and the price is agreed before any work starts.

Helping us quote

Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:

  • A few general shots of the system
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • Any previous report or certificate
  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to

For kitchen extract cleaning in Brown Candover, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email. Let us know the site type and the opening hours, plus photos or the previous report if they’re to hand. We usually send a fixed quote within one working day.

Why act early in Brown Candover

If there’s a fire and the extract hasn’t been cleaned, the paperwork becomes the problem. Many policies require cleaning to TR19, and an insurer can refuse or reduce a claim without proof. A certificate in the file answers that question. If the system at a site near Brown Candover fails, there may be nowhere nearby to move to.

Working hours, access and the scale of the site can all change the price. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before any work starts.

Why choose Duct Doctor in Brown Candover

Keeping the system healthy

No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. A few tips:

  • File each certificate with the fire risk assessment
  • Report grease drips, smells or fan noise straight away
  • Run the extract fan throughout cooking
  • Diarise the next clean as soon as you get the certificate

Every clean ends with a photo report. Before and after pictures show each part of the system, and lists what was cleaned, any areas we couldn’t reach and the date the next clean is due.

Keep the fan on throughout service. Switching it off early leaves vapour to settle on the canopy and plenum, and the next clean has more to do.
