How the job changes from site to site
Grease filters
Between TR19 cleans, filters still need regular cleaning, and a filter exchange service can take that off your hands. Keeping them clean helps the rest of the system stay cleaner.
Canopy and plenum
Whether it’s one hood or a long island canopy, each section is cleaned and photographed before and after.
TR19 kitchen extract cleaning in Brogdale
We’ve been trading since 2009, cleaning kitchen extracts across the South East and London. As a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, we clean to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 and are fully insured. We are often asked to deal with cleaning needed before an insurance renewal or survey and stale cooking odours from the system, across horizontal duct runs, canopies and hoods and discharge points. Hood cleaning is where most enquiries from Brogdale start: a clean that goes past the canopy into the duct and fan, backed by a certificate.
What can be cleaned depends on what can be reached. Where a duct run has no panels, we say so on the report and can fit new ones.
In a village or hamlet like Brogdale, the kitchens that need extract cleaning are usually a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease, whatever the size of the place.
It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. We’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
What happens if it’s left?
If there’s a fire and the extract hasn’t been cleaned, the paperwork becomes the problem. Many policies require cleaning to TR19, and an insurer can refuse or reduce a claim without proof. A certificate in the file answers that question. In a small place like Brogdale, a system that fails can take a site out of use.
Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, which can make the next visit longer. If you’re not sure what’s needed, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form for straight advice and a fixed quote.

FAQs for Brogdale
Is Brogdale within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.
Can school kitchens in Brogdale be cleaned in the holidays?
Yes. The holidays are the usual time for school work. Around Brogdale, the Food Standards Agency lists about 4 schools and colleges with registered kitchens within a mile and a half or so. Tell us your holiday dates and we will book the visit for when the site is empty.
How do you protect the area?
We cover floors and nearby surfaces with sheeting before work begins, and anything we remove is contained. At the end, the area is cleaned down.
Do we have to close the kitchen for the clean?
Cleans are timed to avoid service. Overnight, weekend and between-service cleans are all possible, so you do not lose a service.
How much notice should we give?
Earlier is better, particularly for night and weekend visits. Quotes normally come back within one working day, and there’s a 24/7 line for emergencies.
How long does a kitchen extract clean take?
Allow a single shift for most kitchens, with long duct runs and tall risers needing more time. We’ll confirm the time when we quote.
Is TR19 a legal requirement?
TR19® itself isn’t law. The law is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which makes the responsible person assess and reduce fire risk, and cleaning to TR19 is the recognised way to show you’ve dealt with extract grease.
Will my insurer ask for a TR19 certificate?
Because a dirty extract can spread a fire through a building. Many policies say the extract must be cleaned to TR19, and a claim may be reduced without proof, so keep every certificate.
How it works
We work around your opening hours, not the other way round. We book the visit for a time the area is closed, whether that’s an evening, overnight or a weekend. Once we are in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the work takes a few hours for a small kitchen, longer for a large system. The timing of a visit to Brogdale is set by you, and the travel is our side of the planning.
- First the diagnosis: a survey of the whole system and its access points.
- Grease readings set the baseline, and a fixed quote follows.
- After the kitchen closes, we sheet the area and set up to contain grease and water.
- The treatment: heavy grease scraped out, then every part degreased to TR19® Grease.
- The sign-off: post-clean readings, a TR19 certificate and a photo report with the next clean date.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear the space around the work
- Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
Getting a quote
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in photos, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.

Between visits
Simple habits between visits make a real difference. Our advice:
- Switch the fan on before cooking starts
- Keep the baffle filters clean
- Keep the cleaning records where you can find them
- Never cook with filters missing or out of place
The certificate records when the clean was done, where and by whom. Keep it in the maintenance log with your fire risk assessment so it’s ready when anyone asks to see it.
Stick to the cleaning interval on the certificate. If the kitchen starts cooking longer hours, the interval should be looked at again, and grease readings will show it.
For landlords and multi-site operators
Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.
Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we can quote for the whole system.
Kitchen extract cleaning in Brogdale: the local picture
Food Standards Agency records include about 8 bars, pubs and nightclubs across Brogdale and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Wherever they cook, the canopy, duct and fan collect grease just as a restaurant’s do. Brogdale is covered by Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises. Food hygiene inspections in Brogdale are the job of Swale council’s environmental health team. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. Keeping each certificate and photo report on file helps show the extract is looked after.
If you look after a school kitchen, at a school such as Ospringe Church of England Primary School or anywhere near Brogdale, the holidays are the usual time for a TR19® clean. If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near Church of St Peter and St Paul or elsewhere in Brogdale, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event. If you run catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Belmont House and Gardens is about 2.2 miles south-west), event kitchens in older buildings often have awkward duct runs that need planning.
