Kitchen extract cleaning for sites in Bidden

About our kitchen extract cleaning in Bidden

Duct Doctor has been cleaning kitchen extract systems since 2009. We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 and are fully insured. The work covers vertical risers, discharge points and plenums and filters, and the jobs we see most are a kitchen taken over without any extract records and a kitchen with no current TR19 certificate. Kitchens in Bidden book us for TR19 cleaning for three reasons: the insurer asked, the EHO asked, or the canopy is dripping. We handle the clean and the paperwork in one visit.

BESA sets minimum intervals by hours of cooking a day: 3-monthly for heavy use, 6-monthly for moderate use and yearly for light use, adjusted by what the grease readings show.

Somewhere as small as Bidden, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease.

The paperwork matters as much as the work. You get a written report with photos after every visit, covering the work done, any areas we couldn’t access and a recommended next date. File it in your maintenance log so it’s to hand when an insurer or inspector asks.

How the visit works

Night work is normal for us. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so the site can open as normal afterwards. On site, the work takes as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits. Somewhere as small as Bidden, the date and timings are agreed with you well before the day.

  1. We survey the system first, from your pictures and details or on a site visit.
  2. We measure the grease at set points along the system, then give you a fixed price.
  3. On the day, cooking equipment is switched off and left to cool, and everything nearby is sheeted.
  4. Canopy, plenum, filters, duct runs, risers, fan and discharge are all cleaned to TR19® Grease.
  5. We test again, photograph the result and issue your TR19 certificate and photo report.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us where we can park and unload
  • Clear loose items from the work area
  • Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time

Here’s what helps us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, a few pictures and any previous report or certificate. Once you have those, call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.

Advice

What happens if it’s left?

Leaving the clean until the next refit doesn’t make the grease go away. Fat that was soft and easy to remove hardens with heat and time, and that takes more work to shift. Staying on a regular cycle keeps each clean manageable. Rural sites cannot always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.

You will not find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. Call for a fixed quote, and we will explain what it covers.

Part by part

Extract fan and discharge

The discharge is where air leaves the building, and grease can collect there too. It’s cleaned as far as safe access allows, and any limits are recorded.

Ductwork and risers

Long flat runs of duct are where grease collects. Each run is cleaned through its access panels, recording any that cannot be reached.

Bidden kitchens: local notes

At about 43 miles from central London, Bidden sits well inside the area we cover. A survey and a fixed quote come first, then the visit at a time that suits you. Bidden is covered by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises.

School kitchens, at schools like Robert May's School for example, are usually cleaned in the holidays so no lunches are lost. A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Church of St Mary or elsewhere in Bidden, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often.

Bidden is about 4 miles south of Hook, in Hampshire. From the centre of Bidden to the outskirts, kitchen extract cleaning is available to all kinds of commercial premises, from a single unit to a large public building. We cover 683 places across Hampshire, from busy centres to quieter spots. For sites nearby, see our Reading page (15 miles or so).

Kitchen extract cleaning in RG25 is surveyed, quoted and booked the same way as anywhere else. If you need kitchen extract cleaning at premises on Bidden Road, Elder Dell and Meadowside or a nearby road, we can help. Nearby, we also carry out kitchen extract cleaning in Little Hoddington (1 mile west), South Warnborough (1 mile south-east), Long Sutton (2 miles east), Greywell (2 miles north-east) and Up Nately (2 miles north). We also work in nearby towns such as Basingstoke (5 miles north-west), Farnborough (11 miles north-east), Fleet (7 miles north-east), Aldershot (10 miles east), Alton (6 miles south) and Yateley (10 miles north-east).

Landmarks near Bidden

Questions from Bidden

Can you work in Bidden outside opening hours?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. The work in Bidden can fit around your hours. Just call us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email with your opening times and we will plan around them.

Which council inspects kitchens in Bidden?

Kitchens in Bidden are inspected by Basingstoke and Deane council’s environmental health officers. An officer may look up into the canopy, so clean filters on the day and a recent certificate on file both help.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes, day and night, every day of the year. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and the emergency line covers the rest.

How often does a kitchen extract system need cleaning?

It depends on how many hours a day the kitchen cooks. BESA’s minimums run from every 3 months for heavy use to every 12 months for light use. We’ll recommend a date after measuring the grease.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. Our area covers London and the South East, so sites at different addresses can be planned together on one programme. Each site gets its own report and pictures.

How long will the clean take?

It takes as long as the system needs, from a few hours to several planned visits. We will confirm the time when we quote.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. We run scheduled maintenance contracts, set at the interval the system needs. The report from each visit recommends the next date.

What types of premises do you cover?

Commercial premises of every kind: from restaurants, pubs and hotels to schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, shops and food production sites. We fit the work around how the site operates.

How we price kitchen extract cleaning

The survey tells us what the work involves. We look at:

  • Travel, parking and unloading
  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle
  • Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids

What you pay reflects the actual work. That is why we survey first, from photos or on site, and the price is agreed before any work starts.

What we need to know

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:

  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • When the site is open and when it’s quiet
  • Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
  • The postcode and the type of business

Quotes are quick. Call or email with a few details and you’ll usually have a fixed price within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.

For landlords and multi-site operators

We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements, and we’ll send a fixed quote.

For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Each site gets its own report and photos, so records stay tidy.

What staff can safely do

Staff cleaning and specialist work are not the same thing. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Between visits

Think of this as the after-treatment advice, in brief:

  • Flag any change in how the extract sounds or works
  • Empty any grease troughs or cups on the canopy
  • Refit filters properly after cleaning
  • Switch the fan on before cooking starts

We hand the kitchen back clean, with the sheeting removed and waste taken away. Waste grease and water are contained and removed, so you can start cooking as normal.

Report drips, smells or a noisy fan early. Grease dripping from the canopy, a burning smell or a fan that sounds rough are all signs of build-up, and a grease thickness test can confirm it.
