Grease trap cleaning in Wotton, done properly
A neglected grease trap stops doing its job. Fat sets in the pipes downstream and the result is blocked drains and bad smells. A trap that’s cleaned regularly keeps grease where it belongs. The work covers inline grease traps, pot wash sinks and school and care home kitchens, and people most often call us about an overdue grease trap and a blocked kitchen drain caused by grease.
In a village or hamlet like Wotton, commercial kitchens are few, perhaps a pub, a school or a care home. Each still needs the occasional deep clean and its grease trap kept clear.
For insurers and inspectors, the record counts. So every job comes with a written report and photos, and grease extract cleans come with a TR19® certificate issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Keeping the system healthy
No system stays clean for ever, but care slows the build-up. Our tips:
- Mention any increase in cooking
- Report slow or smelly sinks early
- Keep waste oil out of the drains
- Get food waste into the bin, not the sink
You will get our view on how often the trap needs cleaning. It’s based on how full it was and how busy the kitchen is.
Grease that gets past the trap sets in the drains. Clearing it then is a bigger job so prevention is the easier route.
What happens if it’s left?
Grease that leaves the kitchen ends up somewhere. It adds to blockages further down the drains and sewer. A well-maintained trap keeps it where it can be removed. It’s worth booking a check, because nobody sees inside a duct day to day.
You will not find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. Call for a fixed quote, and we’ll explain what it covers.

What happens on the day
We turn up at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool first, and the area around the work is covered and protected. On site, it takes a short visit for a small trap and longer for an inline unit or interceptor. A quick note on how to find the site and where to park makes a visit to Wotton run smoothly.
- We locate the trap and check how it’s fitted.
- Sinks feeding the trap are taken out of use.
- We empty out the fat, oil, grease and solids.
- The chambers and baffles are cleaned.
- The trap is refitted, tested with water and the waste taken away.
How to prepare
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
- Mention any parking or loading restrictions
- Have your last certificate or report to hand

Advice
Questions from Wotton
Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Wotton?
The local authority for Wotton is Mole Valley council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. How often a business is inspected depends on the council’s risk rating for it, so the kitchen needs to be ready at any time.
Can you come to Wotton after we close?
Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. The work in Wotton can fit around your hours. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.
Which records should we keep?
Every certificate and report from each visit, filed in the maintenance log with your in-house cleaning records. BESA advises that certificates record the date, location and technician.
What do you do with the waste?
We take the grease and solids away with us. Nothing greasy is left on site when we go.
How often should a grease trap be cleaned?
That depends on the trap and the kitchen. A small trap fills more quickly than a large one and the busier the kitchen, the faster it fills. We’ll recommend a schedule once we’ve seen it.
What does a grease trap clean cost?
It depends on the type and size of the trap, its condition and access. Send us details or a photo and we’ll send you a fixed quote.
Which accreditations do you hold?
CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We’re fully insured and have been trading since 2009.
Can one contract cover all our sites?
Yes. Our area covers London and the South East, so sites at different addresses can be planned together as one programme. Each site gets its own report and pictures.
For landlords and multi-site operators
The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty to manage fire risk on the responsible person, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. With shared responsibility, good records help everyone.
From a single site to a large estate, the standard is the same: diagnosis, a fixed price, work booked around your hours and a written report with photos.
What affects the quote in Wotton
The survey tells us what the work involves. We look at:
- The condition of the system
- Site rules, permits and inductions
- The size of the system
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Call for a fixed quote and we will go through it with you.
Helping us quote
To speed up the quote, please include:
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
- The site address and the type of premises
- Problems your staff have spotted
Every quote begins with a look at the system, either from pictures and details you send or from a site visit. Then we send a fixed price, before work begins.
Grease trap cleaning in Wotton: local notes
At about 23 miles from central London, Wotton sits well inside the area we cover. The visit is fixed around your opening hours, not ours. Food hygiene inspections in Wotton are the job of Mole Valley council’s environmental health team. Grease behind equipment or on a ceiling is the kind of thing an inspection can note. Keeping a record of deep cleans and grease trap visits helps at inspection time.
Half-term is a good time for school kitchens, at schools like The Priory CofE Voluntary Aided School for instance, to have the grease trap emptied and the kitchen deep cleaned. If you run event catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Polesden Lacey is about 3 miles north), a deep clean before or after the busy season is worth planning. Where a church or community hall near Church of St John the Evangelist, or anywhere in Wotton, has a kitchen used by volunteers, a periodic deep clean keeps it ready for the next event.

What the work involves, part by part
Under-sink grease traps
An under-sink trap is out of sight. A full one shows itself with a slow, smelly sink.
Inline grease traps
An inline trap sits in the pipework between the kitchen and the drain. They hold more than under-sink units but still need regular emptying.
Honest limits
Not every problem is solved by grease trap cleaning, and we’ll tell you before any work starts. It does not solve:
- Blockages in the public sewer beyond the property
- Grease deep in the drains, which needs jetting by a drainage contractor
- Broken pipework below ground
If in doubt, call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll say what we think.
