What staff can safely do

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

When your team notices a problem between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.

Grease trap cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Walton Hall

Fats, oils and grease are the main cause of blocked kitchen drains. Further on, grease can build into fatbergs in the sewer. A well-maintained trap holds them back. The work covers pot wash sinks, school and care home kitchens and restaurants and takeaways, and common reasons people get in touch are sinks that drain slowly and gurgling drains in the kitchen.

Rural kitchens may drain to a septic tank or a private drain rather than straight into a public sewer, so keeping fat out with a working grease trap matters even more.

Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.

What happens if it’s left?

For a kitchen in Walton Hall, a regular grease trap clean is a small, planned job. A blocked drain is an emergency and usually at the worst moment. Equipment tucked in a roof space or outbuilding near Walton Hall rarely gets looked at unless someone books it.

We don’t list prices on the website, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. Call for a fixed quote, and we will talk you through it.

Why book with us

  • Accredited under CHAS and SafeContractor, with ISO 9001
  • Evenings, overnight and weekends, plus 24/7 emergency callout
  • Photo reports with every job
  • Ventilation hygiene specialists since 2009

See our cost guide or our accreditations and certificates.

What affects the cost of grease trap cleaning

There’s no set price list, because sites vary so much. The quote depends on:

  • Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
  • How many systems or sites are involved
  • The times the site is available
  • The condition of the system

Every site is different, so each one gets its own fixed quote. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all make a difference.

Helping us quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. With your enquiry, please include:

  • When the site is open and when it’s quiet
  • A few general shots of the system
  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • Problems your staff have spotted

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

Part by part

School, care home and staff kitchens

Drains in care settings need to keep flowing. Visits are planned between meals.

Restaurant and takeaway kitchens

Kitchens that fry and wash up all day fill their traps quickly. They often need the most frequent cleaning.

Walton Hall questions

Will you come out to Walton Hall?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Can a school kitchen in Walton Hall be done out of term time?

Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. There are about 21 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Walton Hall. You can call 0345 646 2711 or email us with the dates the site is empty.

How far ahead should we book?

Book as early as you can for planned work, especially if the next clean or test is due soon. Emergencies are different, because our line is open 24/7.

How do you protect the area?

Floors and surfaces near the work are sheeted before work begins, and anything we remove is contained. At the end, the area is cleaned down.

What happens to the waste?

It’s contained and taken away. Grease, debris and waste water are collected as the work goes on rather than letting it spread.

What does a grease trap clean cost?

No two traps are quite the same, so we quote once we know what you have. We give you a fixed price, typically within one working day.

Do you provide a certificate or report?

Yes, always. The report is dated and includes pictures, and TR19® Grease cleans come with a certificate through the BESCA VHE portal. File it with your fire safety records.

Do you clean under-sink and inline grease traps?

Under-sink units, inline traps and interceptors are all covered. Tell us what you have and we will plan around it.

Multi-site and managed buildings

Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Every visit ends with a dated report and pictures, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.

For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so each one has its own record.

Commercial kitchens in Walton Hall

Food Standards Agency data counts about 59 restaurants, cafés and canteens and about 37 takeaways and sandwich shops within about 1.5 miles of central Walton Hall. A grease trap in kitchens like these fills steadily and needs emptying before it overflows. Food hygiene inspections in Walton Hall are the job of Milton Keynes council’s environmental health team. The state of floors, drains and hard-to-reach corners all feeds into the inspection. Having the dates of the last deep clean to hand saves digging for them on the day.

Where a church or community hall near Church of St Thomas, or anywhere in Walton Hall, has a kitchen used by volunteers, a periodic deep clean keeps it ready for the next event. If you cater for weddings or events at a historic house in the area (Bletchley Park is about 2.3 miles south-west), deep cleans can be fitted between bookings. Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Milton Keynes University Hospital (about 1.2 miles west), cook for long hours, so deep cleans and grease trap work are planned around patients’ meals.

When something else is needed

Not every problem is solved by grease trap cleaning, and we will tell you before we start. It does not solve:

  • A trap undersized for the amount of cooking
  • Collapsed or damaged drains, which need a drainage contractor
  • Leaking pipework or sink wastes, which need a plumber

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What the work covers

  • Pot wash sinks
  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • Inline grease traps
  • Restaurants and takeaways
  • Under-sink grease traps
  • School and care home kitchens

What we do, step by step

The first job on site is protection: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. Then we make the system safe and start. It takes a short visit for a small trap and longer for an inline unit or interceptor, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. A quick note on how to find the site and where to park makes a visit to Walton Hall run smoothly.

  1. We start by finding the trap and checking its inlet and outlet.
  2. We ask for the sinks that drain into the trap not to be used.
  3. Built-up fat, oil and grease is removed from the trap.
  4. The inside, baffles and pipe connections are cleaned.
  5. We put it back together, run water through and remove the waste.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
  • Arrange a key holder or contact on site
  • Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
