Grease trap cleaning in Shepperton

Kitchens in Shepperton use us for grease trap cleaning, from small under-sink units to inline traps and interceptors. We come when the sinks aren’t needed so washing up isn’t interrupted. We’re often asked to deal with a bad smell from the sinks or drains and a larger grease trap that needs emptying, on pot wash sinks, kitchen waste pipes and inline grease traps.

In a place like Shepperton, kitchens often sit in older buildings with older drains. Smells and slow drains are the usual warning signs.

Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

When something else is needed

Some problems need a different service or another trade:

  • A trap undersized for the amount of cooking
  • Grease deep in the drains, which needs jetting by a drainage contractor
  • A leaking sink waste or trap connection

Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will tell you honestly.

What the work covers

  • Pot wash sinks
  • School and care home kitchens
  • Restaurants and takeaways
  • Inline grease traps
  • Under-sink grease traps
  • Kitchen waste pipes

What we do, step by step

The visit has three parts: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, and the sign-off is a written report with photos. The middle part takes longest, which takes an hour or so for an under-sink trap, longer for a larger unit. A site near Shepperton normally has room to park, so the questions are about access to the system and your hours.

  1. We start by finding the trap and checking its inlet and outlet.
  2. We ask for the sinks that drain into the trap not to be used.
  3. We take out the layer of fat, oil and grease and any solids.
  4. Every part of the trap is scraped and cleaned, including the baffles.
  5. We put it back together, run water through and remove the waste.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms

Advice

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but they do not reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.

FAQs for Shepperton

Do you work at weekends in Shepperton?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. The site is handed back ready to open. When you ring 0345 646 2711, or send details by email, mention when the site is quiet.

Do you cover smaller places like Shepperton?

Yes. Shepperton is within the area we cover across London and the South East. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Why does a grease trap need regular cleaning?

Grease escapes into the drains when the trap is full. There it hardens on the pipe walls until they block. Keeping the trap clean stops that happening.

How do you protect the area?

We start with protection: sheeting over floors, worktops and anything close to the work. The area is left tidy, with our waste taken away.

Where does the grease from the trap go?

We remove all the waste we take out. It isn’t poured back down the drain at any point.

How much time does a grease trap clean need?

Typically, it takes an hour or so for an under-sink trap, longer for a larger unit. A large or very full trap takes longer, and we’ll tell you in advance.

Which accreditations do you hold?

CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We have been trading since 2009 and we are fully insured.

What paperwork should we keep on file?

The reports and certificates from each visit, plus your own logs. They’re what an insurer, fire officer or EHO may ask for, so keep them together and easy to find.

Leave it or put it right?

A blocked drain can stop a kitchen in its tracks. Water will not drain away, and dirty water can back up. Keeping the trap clean reduces the risk. You choose the date of a planned visit, and a breakdown never asks.

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Problems in a system tend to grow, which can make the next visit longer. If you are not sure what’s needed, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will give you an honest view and a fixed quote.

Shepperton kitchens: local notes

Food Standards Agency records include about 27 pubs, bars and clubs and about 4 hotels, B&Bs and guest houses within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Shepperton. Where they run a kitchen, it needs the same deep cleaning and grease trap care as any restaurant. Food hygiene inspections in Shepperton are the job of Spelthorne council’s environmental health team. They look at the cleanliness of the whole kitchen: walls, floors, ceilings and equipment. A record of each deep clean helps show the kitchen is kept in order.

School kitchens, at schools like Thamesmead School for example, typically have their deep cleans and grease trap work done while the canteen is closed. If you run a café or takeaway near Shepperton station, a deep clean overnight means the kitchen opens as normal next morning.

Grease interceptors

Bigger kitchens may have a larger grease interceptor. With more capacity, they fill more slowly, but they still need regular emptying and cleaning.

School, care home and staff kitchens

School kitchens can be cleaned in the holidays or between meal services.

Managing agents and facilities teams in Shepperton

From a single site to a large estate, the standard is the same: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.

Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Every visit ends with a dated report and photos, ready to show insurers, fire officers or EHOs.

Do you need grease trap cleaning in Shepperton?

In Shepperton, as everywhere, grease traps are easy to forget. Tucked away under the sink or below the floor, it’s often ignored until something goes wrong.

It’s time to book a visit if you see:

  • Grease setting in the kitchen pipework
  • A slow-draining kitchen sink
  • Gurgling drains in the kitchen
  • Scheduled grease trap emptying

If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like No. 2 New Zealand General Hospital about 0.9 miles south-east, deep cleans and grease trap visits are planned so meals still go out.
