How we handle grease trap cleaning in Little Sandhurst

Grease traps sit between the sinks and the drain, holding back fats, oils and grease. Cooling water lets the grease rise and separate, and clean water flows on. Over time, the trap fills up and needs emptying and cleaning. The work covers kitchen waste pipes, pot wash sinks and school and care home kitchens, and the jobs we see most are a slow-draining kitchen sink and a larger grease trap that needs emptying.

In a smaller place like Little Sandhurst, commercial kitchens are more likely to be a pub, a café, a takeaway or a school or care home kitchen. Smaller kitchens still collect grease behind equipment and in the drains.

We have been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

Part by part

School, care home and staff kitchens

School kitchens can be cleaned in the holidays or between meal services.

Restaurant and takeaway kitchens

Visits are booked when the sinks are not in use so the kitchen isn’t disrupted.

When something else is needed

We’d rather tell you now than book work that will not help, so these are the things it won’t cover:

  • A unit that can’t cope with the kitchen’s output
  • Blockages in the public sewer beyond the property
  • Grease deep in the drains, which needs jetting by a drainage contractor

If you are not sure, just ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Pot wash sinks
  • Inline grease traps
  • School and care home kitchens
  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • Under-sink grease traps
  • Restaurants and takeaways

How the visit works

We work around your opening hours, not the other way round. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. When the team arrives, the work area is protected and the relevant equipment is switched off to cool, and the work takes a short visit for a small trap and longer for an inline unit or interceptor. Because the survey comes first, a visit to Little Sandhurst can usually be finished without a second trip.

  1. We find the trap and check how it’s connected.
  2. We ask for the sinks that drain into the trap not to be used.
  3. The trap is emptied of grease and food waste.
  4. We clean the chambers, baffles and connections.
  5. We put it back together, run water through and remove the waste.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
  • Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
  • Tell us where we can park and unload

Get a fixed quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Add the site type and your opening hours, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

Advice

How we price grease trap cleaning

A fixed price needs a few facts first. We look at:

  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • How big the system is
  • The number of sites or systems
  • Parking and loading at the site

Every site is different, so each one gets its own fixed quote. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all make a difference.

What we need to know

To speed up the quote, send us:

  • Wide photos of the system and the area around it
  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles

Some systems can be priced from pictures; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work starts.

Common problems we fix in Little Sandhurst

A full trap cannot hold any more grease. It then builds up in the drains and on towards the sewer, where it can form blockages.

Common reasons sites call us include:

  • Gurgling drains in the kitchen
  • A larger grease trap that needs emptying
  • Sinks that drain slowly
  • A full, neglected grease trap

If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near Church of St Michael or elsewhere in Little Sandhurst, a deep clean and an emptied grease trap before a busy season of events are worth booking.

Comparing quotes

  • If the quote is a fixed price or an estimate
  • What hours they’ll be on site
  • Proof of accreditation you can verify
  • How they set the interval to the next visit

Our hiring checklist

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.

If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We’ll take a look and send you a fixed quote.

Little Sandhurst: your questions answered

Will you come out to Little Sandhurst?

Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Little Sandhurst included. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.

Can you come to Little Sandhurst after we close?

Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. That way a site in Little Sandhurst doesn’t have to lose a day’s trading. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.

What should go in our maintenance log?

The reports and certificates from each visit, plus your own logs. They’re what an insurer, fire officer or EHO may ask for, so keep them where they can be found quickly.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry full insurance and have been trading since 2009.

Do you offer emergency callouts?

Yes. If something urgent happens, like a fan failing or damage after a fire, call our 24/7 line and we’ll talk you through the next steps.

Do you take the waste away?

We take it away. Your staff do not have to handle it once the clean is done.

What do you do to protect the area?

With sheeting and covers, before anything else happens. The work is kept contained and clean down when we finish.

How long does a grease trap clean take?

Each trap is a little different, but a clean generally takes an hour or so for an under-sink trap, longer for a larger unit. We’ll confirm when we quote.

Why deal with it now?

A full grease trap lets grease through to the drains. It hardens on the pipe walls, until the drain blocks. Regular trap cleaning beats dealing with a blockage. Around Little Sandhurst, a kitchen or building out of action is missed right away.

The cost depends on the size of the system, the condition it’s in and how easy it is to reach. You get a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.
