How we handle grease trap cleaning in Kingsnorth
A grease trap catches fats, oils and grease from the kitchen sinks before they reach the drain. As the waste water cools, the grease floats and stays in the trap, and clean water flows on. Over time, the trap fills up and needs emptying and cleaning. We’re often asked to deal with grease setting in the kitchen pipework and a small trap that fills too quickly, across pot wash sinks, under-sink grease traps and kitchen waste pipes.
In a village or hamlet like Kingsnorth, commercial kitchens are few, perhaps a pub, a school or a care home. Wherever there is one, it needs its grease trap and hard-to-reach areas kept clean.
Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

What the work covers
- Under-sink grease traps
- Inline grease traps
- Restaurants and takeaways
- Kitchen waste pipes
- Pot wash sinks
- School and care home kitchens
How the visit works
The first job on site is protection: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. It takes an hour or so for an under-sink trap, longer for a larger unit, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. If the van will struggle with a lane or gateway near Kingsnorth, let us know and we’ll plan around it.
- First, we locate the grease trap and look at the pipework around it.
- Nothing drains into the trap while it’s open.
- Built-up fat, oil and grease is removed from the trap.
- Every part of the trap is scraped and cleaned, including the baffles.
- We put it back together, run water through and remove the waste.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear loose items from the work area
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
- Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down

Part by part
Baffles and outlets
We check the inlet, outlet and baffles at each clean so the trap works as it should.
Inline grease traps
Inline traps often take waste from several sinks or appliances. More waste means faster filling.
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We cover South East England and London, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.
When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the lease for who maintains the systems. We are happy to deal with either side and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.
What staff can safely do
A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.
Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.
Questions from Kingsnorth
Do you work overnight in Kingsnorth?
Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. That way a site in Kingsnorth does not have to lose a day’s trading. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.
Which council inspects kitchens in Kingsnorth?
Food hygiene inspections in Kingsnorth are carried out by Ashford council. Photos from a deep clean are a simple record of what was done and when.
Do you work with multi-site operators?
Yes. Tell us the addresses and what each needs and we’ll quote them together.
How much notice do you need?
Book as early as you can for planned work, especially if the next clean or test is due soon. For emergencies, we take calls 24/7.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes, of course. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we’ll propose a schedule with a fixed quote.
How regularly does a grease trap need emptying?
The right interval depends on your trap and your cooking. Slow or smelly sinks between cleans mean it needs doing more often and we’ll adjust the schedule.
Do you provide a certificate or report?
Yes, always. The report is dated and includes pictures, and TR19® Grease cleans come with a certificate through the BESCA VHE portal. File it with your fire safety records.
What happens if you cannot reach some of it?
We record them on the report, with pictures where possible, and we explain what access is needed, for example new access panels.

What affects the quote in Kingsnorth
We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
- Travel, parking and unloading
- The condition of the system
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we survey first, from pictures or on site, and the price is agreed before work begins.

To speed up the quote, send us:

Aftercare tips
Aftercare is simple, and it makes the next visit easier:
- Do not store things on top of the trap
- Keep strainers in every sink
- Mention any increase in cooking
- Report slow or smelly sinks early
Once the trap is cleaned and refitted, the sinks can be used straight away. Water is run through to check everything flows before we go.
Fat that escapes the trap hardens in the pipework. Clearing it then is a bigger job so prevention is the easier route.
