Furzey Lodge grease trap cleaning
One call covers emptying and cleaning of under-sink and inline grease traps in commercial kitchens in Furzey Lodge: survey, fixed quote, work and sign-off. CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, ISO 9001 and fully insured.
- A full, neglected grease trap
- An interceptor full of grease and solids
- A kitchen drain that smells
How we handle grease trap cleaning in Furzey Lodge
A clean trap means flowing drains and no foul smells. We empty the built-up grease and food solids and the chambers and baffles cleaned and the trap checked before we leave. If you have foul odours from the grease trap and drains that gurgle and bubble, we can put it right, from inline grease traps, under-sink grease traps and pot wash sinks onwards.
In rural areas, a kitchen may drain to a private system rather than a public sewer, so keeping fat out with a working grease trap matters even more.
Every visit ends with a written report and photos, so there’s a dated record of the work. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, the certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

What happens on the day
We start by comparing what we find with the survey or your pictures. If anything is different, we talk it through with the person on site before carrying on. After that, the work takes a short visit for a small trap and longer for an inline unit or interceptor. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Furzey Lodge before we set off.
- We agree a time when the sinks are not needed.
- The trap is opened up and checked.
- We remove the grease layer and settled solids.
- The inside, baffles and outlet are cleaned.
- The trap is closed, tested and the next clean discussed.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any parking or loading restrictions
- Find the previous report, if there is one
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
Get a fixed quote
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work starts.
Advice
Aftercare tips
A little care between visits keeps the system in better shape. We recommend:
- Make sure the trap can be reached easily
- Keep the grease trap on a regular cleaning schedule
- Fit sink strainers to catch food scraps
- Tell us if your menu or hours change
You’ll get our view on how often the trap needs cleaning. It’s based on how full it was and how much the kitchen cooks.
More cooking means more grease in the trap. Booking cleans more often keeps the drains flowing.
Common problems we fix in Furzey Lodge
Hot water and detergent carry grease further than you’d expect. Once it cools, it sets, often in the trap or the pipe beyond.
Look out for any of the following:
- A full, neglected grease trap
- Foul odours from the grease trap
- Scheduled grease trap emptying
- An inline trap or interceptor due for cleaning
Beaulieu Palace House, about 1.2 miles east, is one of the historic houses around Furzey Lodge; event kitchens at places like that work in bursts, so a deep clean after a busy season helps.
What your quote should include
- Proof of accreditation you can verify
- Whether the work can be done while the site is closed
- If they look at the system before pricing
- When the next visit should be, and why
Furzey Lodge questions
Which council inspects kitchens in Furzey Lodge?
The local authority for Furzey Lodge is New Forest council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. How often a business is inspected depends on the council’s risk rating for it, so the kitchen needs to be ready at any time.
Do you cover smaller places like Furzey Lodge?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Furzey Lodge included. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We carry full insurance and have been trading since 2009.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, depending on what the system needs.
Are you accredited?
Our accreditations are CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. The Vent Hygiene Elite scheme is run by BESCA and audited independently.
Will cleaning the grease trap fix a blocked drain?
It depends where the blockage is. If the trap is full, cleaning it often helps, but blockages further along need a drainage contractor.
What happens if a grease trap isn’t cleaned?
Once it’s full, grease passes straight through. It then sets in the drains, causing blockages and smells, and can add to fatbergs in the sewer.
What paperwork should we keep on file?
Every certificate and report from each visit, filed in the maintenance log, along with your own cleaning log. BESA advises that certificates record the date, location and technician.
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Some jobs should never be done in-house: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings need training, the right equipment and safe access. That is our job.
Keep a record of what your team does. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, alongside our reports.
What affects the cost of grease trap cleaning
Before we fix a price, we need to know a few things. We check:
- Parking and loading at the site
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
- How easy every part is to reach
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Problems in a system tend to grow, which can make the next visit longer. If you’re not sure what’s needed, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line for straight advice and a fixed quote.
What to send for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, gather:
- Your last certificate, test record or report
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
- Any access panels or hatches you can see
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, either from photos and details you send or from a site visit. Then we send a fixed price so you know the cost before work begins.
What grease trap cleaning can’t fix
We’d rather tell you now than book work that will not help, so these are the things it won’t cover:
- Plumbing leaks around the sink
- Grease deep in the drains, which needs jetting by a drainage contractor
- Drains that are cracked or have collapsed
If in doubt, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll say what we think.
