Grease trap cleaning in Daniel's Water

Grease is behind most blocked kitchen drains. Further on, grease can build into fatbergs in the sewer. A grease trap that’s emptied and cleaned regularly keeps them out of the drains. We’re often asked to deal with a blocked kitchen drain caused by grease and foul odours from the grease trap, on inline grease traps, under-sink grease traps and school and care home kitchens.

Rural kitchens may drain to a septic tank or a private drain rather than straight into a public sewer, and fat getting past a grease trap can cause real trouble there.

Think of the report as the system’s health record: dated, with pictures, and showing what was done. For TR19® Grease cleans, the certificate comes through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal, ready for your insurer.

What affects the quote in Daniel's Water

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:

  • Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
  • How easy every part is to reach
  • The scale of the work
  • What state the system is in

Every site is different, so we price each one individually. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all play a part.

What we need to know

Photos let us diagnose from a distance. The most useful are:

  • Wide photos of the system and the area around it
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • Problems your staff have spotted
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall

For a fixed quote, call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. A few pictures and your last certificate or report help a lot. We normally come back within one working day.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.

For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

Part by part

Restaurant and takeaway kitchens

A blocked drain in a busy kitchen can stop service. Regular trap cleaning helps prevent it.

School, care home and staff kitchens

Drains in care settings need to keep flowing. Visits are planned between meals.

Why act early in Daniel's Water

A smelly, overflowing trap attracts pests. Keeping the trap clean removes something they’re looking for as part of a clean kitchen. Rural sites cannot always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.

You will not find a price list here, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a fixed quote, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form, and we will talk you through it.

What we do, step by step

Your trading hours come first. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. When the team arrives, the work area is protected and the relevant equipment is switched off to cool, and the work takes a short visit for a small trap and longer for an inline unit or interceptor. In a small place like Daniel's Water, the journey is planned ahead and the visit arranged around the site’s hours.

  1. A visit is booked around your service.
  2. The trap is opened up and checked.
  3. Built-up grease and food waste are taken out.
  4. The inside, baffles and outlet are cleaned.
  5. The trap is closed, tested and the next clean discussed.

How to prepare

  • Have your last certificate or report to hand
  • Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
  • Let us know about parking and loading

Ask for a quote

We don’t publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. Instead, we look at your site first, from pictures or a survey, and then send you a fixed quote. To start, call 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.

Advice

What a clean will not put right

We’d rather tell you now than book work that will not help, so these are the things it will not cover:

  • A unit that can’t cope with the kitchen’s output
  • Collapsed or damaged drains, which need a drainage contractor
  • Drains that need jetting rather than trap cleaning

If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Restaurants and takeaways
  • Under-sink grease traps
  • Pot wash sinks
  • Inline grease traps

Common questions in Daniel's Water

Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in Daniel's Water?

That is Ashford council, whose environmental health officers carry out food hygiene inspections in Daniel's Water. Photos from a deep clean are a simple record of what was done and when.

Can a school kitchen in Daniel's Water be done out of term time?

Yes, and it’s the easiest time to do it. The FSA’s register shows about 2 schools and colleges with food registrations within roughly a mile and a half of Daniel's Water. Just call 0345 646 2711, or email photos with your term dates and we’ll plan around them.

Will I get paperwork for my records?

Yes. It’s your proof that the work was done: a dated report with pictures, listing the work and any areas we couldn’t reach.

How much time does a grease trap clean need?

Most grease trap cleans take anything from under an hour to a few hours, depending on the trap including checking it drains. We plan the visit around your service.

What should go in our maintenance log?

Anything that proves the system is maintained: our reports and pictures, any certificates and your in-house logs. A single log for each site works best.

Does the report say when we need you again?

Yes. How often depends on use and condition and the report sets out why.

How much does grease trap cleaning cost?

Trap size, type, condition and access all affect the price. Send us details or a photo and we’ll send you a fixed quote.

What about areas you cannot get to?

We record them on the report, with a note of where it is, and we explain what access is needed, for example new access panels.

Aftercare tips

Think of this as the after-treatment advice, in brief:

  • Tell us if your menu or hours change
  • Keep the grease trap on a regular cleaning schedule
  • Use strainers in the sink plugholes
  • Never pour used oil down the sink

Once the trap is cleaned and refitted, the sinks can be used straight away. We run water through to check it drains before we leave.

A fixed cleaning interval means the trap never gets overfull. We agree the timing with you.
