Grease trap cleaning across Bendish

Grease trap cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Bendish

We clean grease traps for kitchens in Bendish, from small under-sink units to inline traps and interceptors. We come when the sinks are not needed, so the kitchen keeps running. The work covers under-sink grease traps, kitchen waste pipes and school and care home kitchens, and common reasons people get in touch are a full, neglected grease trap and a small trap that fills too quickly.

For a kitchen in or near Bendish, the visit is planned ahead, around opening times and the journey.

We’ve been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured.

Commercial kitchens in Bendish

The Food Standards Agency lists about 3 bars, pubs and nightclubs as registered food businesses in and around Bendish, up to about a mile and a half out. Wherever they cook, the kitchen and its drains need the same attention as a restaurant’s. Bendish is about 28 miles from central London, well within the area we cover across London and the South East. The visit is fixed around your opening hours, not ours. Kitchens in Bendish get their food hygiene inspections from North Hertfordshire council. They look at the cleanliness of the whole kitchen: walls, floors, ceilings and equipment. Having the dates of the last deep clean to hand saves digging for them on the day.

If you run a care home or healthcare kitchen near Bendish (the nearest hospital is Lister Hospital, about 5.1 miles north-east), a grease trap on a set schedule avoids a blocked drain mid-service. If you run a kitchen in an older building near Bendish, such as a historic house like Shaw's Corner (about 3.7 miles south-east), older drains make a working grease trap all the more important. Half-term is a good time for school kitchens, at schools like Breachwood Green Junior Mixed and Infant School for instance, to have the grease trap emptied and the kitchen deep cleaned.

Bendish is about 5 miles north of Harpenden, in Hertfordshire. Whatever kind of site you run in Bendish, grease trap cleaning is something we can help with. We can work out of hours so trading isn’t interrupted. We cover 381 places across Hertfordshire, from busy centres to quieter spots. There’s also a page for Milton Keynes, about 22 miles away.

What grease trap cleaning cannot fix

To be straight with you, there are a few things this work won’t fix:

  • Drains that need jetting rather than trap cleaning
  • A unit that can’t cope with the kitchen’s output
  • Drains that are cracked or have collapsed

If in doubt, call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll say what we think.

What the work covers

  • Kitchen waste pipes
  • Inline grease traps
  • School and care home kitchens
  • Pot wash sinks
  • Restaurants and takeaways
  • Under-sink grease traps

What staff can safely do

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that’s where we come in.

When your team notices a problem between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We can diagnose it and quote.

What the work involves, part by part

School, care home and staff kitchens

Care home and hospital kitchens need their drains working all the time. We fit visits around mealtimes.

Inline grease traps

An inline trap sits in the pipework between the kitchen and the drain. They hold more than under-sink units but still need regular emptying.

Aftercare tips

To keep the system working properly between visits:

  • Tell us when sinks start draining slowly
  • Mention any increase in cooking
  • Wipe grease off pans before washing them
  • Keep strainers in every sink

If we spot problems beyond the trap, such as a drain that still runs slowly, we will tell you. It may need a drainage specialist to look further.

Slow sinks and a bad smell are early warnings. Acting at this stage usually prevents a blockage down the line.

What happens if it’s left?

Pouring hot water or chemicals down a slow drain is a common quick fix. It just shifts the grease further along, where it sets again. The lasting fix starts with the trap. Systems in rural buildings are often out of sight and out of mind.

No two sites are the same, so we price each one individually. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all make a difference.

What happens on the day

We turn up at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool first, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. The work itself takes an hour or so for an under-sink trap, longer for a larger unit. For a village or hamlet like Bendish, tell us about narrow lanes, gates and parking when you book.

  1. We find the trap and check how it’s connected.
  2. We ask for the sinks that drain into the trap not to be used.
  3. The trap is emptied of grease and food waste.
  4. The inside, baffles and pipe connections are cleaned.
  5. Once it’s refitted, water is run through to check it drains, and we take the waste with us.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
  • Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms

Multi-site and managed buildings

Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too across Hertfordshire. Larger estates can be phased building by building around the people who use them.

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

Questions from Bendish

Do you work at weekends in Bendish?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. That way a site in Bendish does not have to lose a day’s trading. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.

Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Bendish?

In Bendish, it’s North Hertfordshire council that carries out food hygiene inspections. An officer may look behind equipment and at drains, so it pays to have the deep clean booked before those areas build up.

Will you tell us when the next visit is due?

Yes. The report recommends when the next visit should be, based on what we found and how the system is used.

Do you provide a certificate or report?

Yes. Every visit ends with a written report and photos, showing what was done, anything we couldn’t reach and when the next visit is due. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, there’s also a certificate issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

Can you give me a price for grease trap cleaning?

No two traps are quite the same, so we quote once we know what you have. We give you a fixed price, normally within one working day.

Can you set up regular visits?

Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used, and we’ll suggest a schedule and quote for it.

Which grease traps does the service cover?

We clean under-sink traps, inline traps and interceptors. Tell us what you have and we will plan the visit.

What accreditations do you have?

Our accreditations are CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, alongside BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. The Vent Hygiene Elite scheme is run by BESCA and audited independently.
