Grease filter exchange for sites in Westcroft

Grease filter exchange for kitchens and businesses in Westcroft

Filter exchange sits between full TR19® cleans. Clean filters reduce the grease reaching the ducts though vapour still carries some grease past them. So the canopy, plenum and ducts still need their full TR19 clean. The work covers island canopies, wall canopies and mesh filters, and common reasons people get in touch are grease building up behind the canopy filters and a canopy that drips grease.

For a smaller kitchen near Westcroft, a TR19® clean is the same job as anywhere: canopy, filters, plenum, duct, fan and discharge. The visit is booked around your opening hours, and the journey is planned ahead.

We’re CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we’re fully insured. On top of that, we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

What happens if it’s left?

Once filters are saturated, more grease gets past them. That makes the next full clean a bigger job and grease readings can rise between cleans. A visit arranged in advance is far less disruptive than a callout on a busy day.

No two sites are the same, so we price each one individually. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all make a difference.

Why us?

  • A fixed price before any work starts
  • Photo reports with every job
  • One contact for all your sites in London and the South East
  • CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, with ISO 9001

What your team can do, and what needs us

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.

A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings need training, the right equipment and safe access. That is our job.

Multi-site and managed buildings

For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Each site gets its own report and photos, so records stay tidy.

Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept to a regular schedule.

Questions from Westcroft

Do you work overnight in Westcroft?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. That way a site in Westcroft does not have to lose a day’s trading. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.

Can school kitchens in Westcroft be cleaned in the holidays?

Yes, holiday work suits schools best. With about 17 schools and colleges on the FSA’s register within roughly a mile and a half of Westcroft, it pays to plan holiday dates ahead. Just call us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form with your term dates and we will plan around them.

Who is responsible for fire safety on the premises?

It depends on the building. Under the Fire Safety Order 2005, it’s the responsible person, which can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, an FM or a managing agent.

Where does the waste go?

It leaves the site with us at the end of the visit. While we work, it’s kept contained so the area stays clean.

Do you offer emergency callouts?

Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a fan failure or damage after a fire, ring the 24/7 line, and we’ll advise on what to do next.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We’re fully insured, and the details are available on request.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. Tell us the addresses and what each needs and you will get one fixed quote.

How far ahead should we book?

That depends on the slot you want and the size of the job. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and for anything urgent, ring our 24/7 emergency line.

What grease filter exchange can’t fix

It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:

  • Greasy ducts and risers that a filter change will not reach
  • Extraction problems caused by the fan rather than the filters
  • Smell complaints that need odour control equipment

Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we will tell you honestly.

Grease, kitchens and Westcroft

According to Food Standards Agency records, there are about 5 pubs, bars and clubs within about 1.5 miles of central Westcroft. Any of them serving cooked food has an extract to keep clean, from canopy to discharge. Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service covers Westcroft. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk. Environmental health officers from Milton Keynes council inspect food businesses in Westcroft. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready.

If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near St Giles's Church or elsewhere in Westcroft, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event. Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Bletchley Community Hospital (about 2.2 miles east), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands. Term dates shape school work: for a school like Oxley Park Academy, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break.

Westcroft is about 2 miles west of Bletchley, in Milton Keynes. We carry out grease filter exchange for commercial premises of every kind in Westcroft and the rest of Milton Keynes. We cover 73 places across Milton Keynes, large and small.

We cover every part of the MK4 and MK5 postcode area for grease filter exchange and the roads nearby. That includes premises on Powis Lane, Rains Road and Niven Lane and nearby roads. If your site is just outside Westcroft, we cover Shenley Church End (1 mile north), Furzton (1 mile east), Loughton (2 miles north), Milton Keynes (3 miles north-east) and Denbigh (3 miles east). Within a short drive, we also cover Newport Pagnell (6 miles north-east), Bletchley and Fenny Stratford (3 miles east), Middleton (5 miles north-east), Fenny Stratford (4 miles east), Olney (11 miles north) and Broughton (5 miles north-east). Westcroft is one of the larger places we cover in Milton Keynes for grease filter exchange.

Part by part

Mesh filters

Grease lodges deep in the layers of a mesh filter, so a quick rinse rarely gets it clean.

Canopy filter housings

Every exchange includes a check of how the filters sit, because gaps let grease through.

The process

Before we leave, we walk the area with whoever is on site. We point out anything that couldn’t be reached or needs a follow-up, and the same goes into the written report. All told, the work takes a few minutes per canopy, longer for a large kitchen with several canopies. In a place like Westcroft, we fit the visit around your hours.

  1. First, we record the size, type and number of filters in each canopy.
  2. Together we set how often the filters should be changed.
  3. On each visit, the dirty filters come out of the canopy.
  4. We fit clean filters and check they sit snugly in the housing.
  5. We flag any damaged filters or anything wrong with the canopy.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have your last certificate or report to hand
  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
  • Clear the space around the work

Getting a quote

Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

Looking after it afterwards

How long the results last depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Report a dripping canopy early
  • Keep canopy surfaces wiped down
  • Don’t let the full clean slip because filters are changed
  • Report damaged filters so they can be replaced

The next exchange is already in the diary. If the kitchen gets busier, the interval can be shortened to keep up.

If cooking has stepped up, the filter schedule should too. Adjusting the schedule now prevents a build-up in the ducts.
