Grease filter exchange in Radley

Multi-site and managed buildings

From a single site to a large estate, you get the same standard: diagnosis, a fixed price, work booked around your hours and a written report with photos.

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

Grease filter exchange in Radley, done properly

Think of filter exchange as routine care for the extract. It keeps airflow up and grease down between full cleans, and it saves your staff a greasy job. Full TR19 cleaning still comes at the right interval, with a certificate. If you have smoke and heat lingering under the hood and grease collecting in the filter channels, we can put it right.

In a small place like Radley, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. We agree access and timings in advance.

Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.

Do you need grease filter exchange in Radley?

However long the kitchen cooks each day, the filters see every minute of it. A kitchen that cooks all day loads its filters quickly so changes need to come round sooner.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Grease dripping from the canopy
  • Damaged filters letting grease past
  • Grease collecting in the filter channels
  • Missing filters in the filter bank

If you cook for passing trade around Radley station, the extract can be cleaned between your last and first customer.

  • What records you will receive afterwards

Our hiring checklist

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that will not come clean, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We’ll take a look and give you a fixed quote.

A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.

Looking after it afterwards

After the visit, a few habits help the work last:

  • Keep canopy surfaces wiped down
  • Don’t refit a filter that’s bent
  • Clear anything stored on or near the canopy
  • Keep the extract on whenever the range is in use

The next exchange is already in the diary. If cooking increases, we can change filters more often to keep up.

Saturated filters let more grease through. Getting onto a regular exchange now keeps grease out of the plenum and ductwork until the next TR19 clean.

Grease, kitchens and Radley

Food Standards Agency records list about 4 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens and about 6 takeaways across Radley and its immediate surroundings (about a mile and a half). Where they cook under a canopy, the grease filters are the first line of defence and clog quickly. Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service covers Radley. The Fire Safety Order puts the duty on whoever runs a kitchen to control its fire risk, and a greasy duct is fuel. Food hygiene inspections in Radley are the job of Vale of White Horse council’s environmental health team. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked.

If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near Church of St James or elsewhere in Radley, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event. A hospital like Littlemore Hospital, about 2.3 miles north, is the kind of site where a kitchen may cook for patients, staff and visitors all day.

Radley is about 2 miles north-east of Abingdon-on-Thames, in Oxfordshire. Sites in Radley get the same service as everywhere we cover: a survey first, a fixed quote, work timed around your hours and a report with pictures. We cover 443 places across Oxfordshire, large and small.

When it’s something else

It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:

  • A canopy that needs a proper clean
  • Cooking smells reaching neighbours, which need odour control
  • A fan that is failing or too weak for the system

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What the work covers

  • School and hospital kitchens
  • Wall canopies
  • Mesh filters
  • Restaurants and pubs
  • Island canopies
  • Baffle filters

What affects the quote in Radley

There’s no set price list, because sites vary so much. The quote depends on:

  • The condition of the system
  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • How easy every part is to reach
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends

The cost depends on how big the system is, what state it’s in and access to every part of it. We give you a fixed price before we start, so there are no surprises.

What to send for a quote

To help us quote quickly, please include:

  • The postcode and the type of business
  • Problems your staff have spotted
  • How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
  • Wide pictures of the system and the area around it

Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.

Radley: your questions answered

Do you cover smaller places like Radley?

Yes. Radley is within the area we cover across London and the South East. A survey first, from pictures or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.

Which fire authority looks after Radley?

Fire safety enforcement in Radley is handled by Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. Records of extract cleaning are a sensible thing to have ready if a fire safety officer carries out an audit.

How regularly do grease filters need exchanging?

It varies from kitchen to kitchen. We look at your cooking and set an interval to match, and adjust it if needed.

Does a filter exchange disrupt service?

A change takes a short visit, depending on how many filters the canopies hold, so disruption is small. We will fit it around your service wherever possible.

Does the report say when we need you again?

Yes. Every report includes a recommended date for the next visit, based on what we found and how the system is used.

What if parts of the system can’t be reached?

We record them on the report, with pictures where possible, and we explain what access is needed, for example new access panels.

What accreditations do you have?

Duct Doctor is a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.

Can one contract cover all our sites?

Yes. Tell us the addresses and what each needs and you will get one fixed quote.

How it works

Your trading hours come first. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. Once we’re in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the work takes well under an hour for most canopies. Photos of the system and how to reach it help us plan a visit to Radley.

  1. We start by noting how many filters you have and what type they are.
  2. A change schedule is agreed to match the kitchen’s cooking hours.
  3. On each visit, the dirty filters come out of the canopy.
  4. Clean filters go straight back in, seated properly with no gaps.
  5. Anything we notice, such as bent filters or a dirty plenum, is pointed out.

How to prepare

  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, plant rooms, ceilings or locked areas
  • Let us know about permits to work or site inductions

How to get a quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.
