Grease filter exchange in Iver

About our grease filter exchange in Iver

A filter service works alongside TR19® cleaning, not instead of it. Clean filters reduce the grease reaching the ducts though vapour still carries some grease past them. That is why the whole system still needs cleaning to TR19 at the right interval. If you are dealing with drips falling from the filters onto equipment and hand-washed filters that still look greasy, we can put it right, from island canopies, mesh filters and baffle filters onwards.

For a kitchen in or near Iver, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.

A written report with photos follows each visit, so there’s a dated record of the work. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, the certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

The process

We are used to working while the site is closed. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so the site can open as normal afterwards. On site, the work takes a short visit, depending on how many filters the canopies hold. Visits to a village like Iver are booked in advance, at a time that suits whoever runs the site.

  1. We count and measure the filters in every canopy.
  2. Together we set how often the filters should be changed.
  3. Each visit starts with the used filters being removed.
  4. Clean filters go straight back in, seated properly with no gaps.
  5. If a filter is damaged or the plenum needs attention, we tell you.

How to prepare

  • Clear the space around the work
  • Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
  • Agree a time when the area can be out of use

Questions from Iver

Can you come to Iver after we close?

Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. It means the site in Iver keeps running as normal. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.

Who is the fire and rescue service for Iver?

That’s Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.

Which accreditations do you hold?

CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We are fully insured and have been trading since 2009.

How long does grease filter exchange take?

We will confirm the time with your quote. In most cases, the work takes a few minutes per canopy, longer for a large kitchen with several canopies.

What paperwork should we keep on file?

The reports and certificates from each visit, plus your own logs. They’re what an insurer, fire officer or EHO may ask for, so keep them together and easy to find.

What’s TR19?

It’s BESA’s specification and the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to. It sets out inspection, cleaning and record keeping, and it takes a risk-based approach.

Do you deal with bent or broken filters?

Each filter is looked at when we exchange. We tell you about any that are damaged, because gaps let grease into the plenum.

What if parts of the system cannot be reached?

We never leave them off the paperwork. You’ll know exactly which parts weren’t reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.

Why deal with it now?

Washing filters in-house is an option for kitchens in Iver, and it works when it’s done well and never skipped. Where it slips, an exchange service takes the job off staff. It’s worth booking a check, because nobody sees inside a duct day to day.

Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, which can make the next visit longer. If you’re unsure, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos for straight advice and a fixed quote.

Fixed quotes for grease filter exchange in Iver

Your quote is based on your site. We consider:

  • The condition of the system
  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits
  • The times the site is available
  • One-off work versus a regular cycle

What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why every job is surveyed first, and the price is agreed before we start.

What to send for a quote

To help us quote quickly, send us:

  • The postcode and the type of business
  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • Problems your staff have spotted

To get a fixed quote, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email with the site type, your trading hours and a short description of the system. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. We usually come back within one working day.

Multi-site and managed buildings

Facilities teams in offices, schools and healthcare sites book us too across Buckinghamshire. Work can be phased by floor, building or site around the people who use them.

Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit produces a dated report with pictures, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.

Common problems we fix in Iver

Long cooking hours in Iver or anywhere else mean more grease on the filters. Heavy daily use means fast build-up, so it needs more frequent changes.

The symptoms we are asked about most include:

  • Filters that leave gaps in the canopy
  • A canopy running with filters missing
  • Grease filters clogged with grease
  • A canopy that drips grease

Term dates shape school work: for a school like Iver Village Infant School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break.

Questions to ask before booking

  • What insurance they carry
  • Whether they recommend a next date
  • How areas they can’t reach will be recorded
  • Proof of accreditation you can verify

What a clean won’t put right

Not every problem is solved by grease filter exchange, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t put right:

  • A canopy that does not capture the vapour properly
  • Odours from the discharge that filters will not stop
  • Grease already built up in the ductwork, which needs a full TR19 clean

If you are not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Staff cleaning and specialist work are not the same thing. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but grease that has passed the filters is out of reach. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.
