Kent · Grease filter exchange
Grease filter exchange in Hawkenbury, Kent
A scheduled grease filter exchange, swapping dirty canopy filters for clean ones for commercial sites in Hawkenbury and across Kent. BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease.
- Filters so greasy the air can barely pass
- A greasy plenum behind the filters
- Hand-washed filters that still look greasy
Grease filter exchange in Hawkenbury, done properly
A clean set of filters is a simple, regular dose of prevention. Between full cleans, it keeps the airflow healthy, and it saves your staff a greasy job. Full TR19 cleaning still comes at the right interval, with a certificate. If you have filters that come out of the sink still dirty and missing filters in the filter bank, we can put it right, from wall canopies, mesh filters and island canopies onwards.
In a village or hamlet like Hawkenbury, the kitchens that need extract cleaning are usually a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease, whatever the size of the place.
Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a written report, dated and illustrated with pictures, plus a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal when the work is a TR19® Grease clean. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

What affects the cost of grease filter exchange
You will get a fixed price before we start. It’s based on:
- Parking and loading at the site
- The times the site is available
- Whether several sites go on one quote
- A single visit or a regular plan
Several systems or sites on one quote can make for a more efficient booking. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we’ll price it together.
What we need to know
When you call or email, it’s useful to have:
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
- Problems your staff have spotted
- Your last certificate, test record or report
For a fixed quote, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or email us and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. We normally come back within one working day.
Honest limits
Grease filter exchange cannot fix everything, and we’ll tell you before work begins. It won’t put right:
- Grease deep in the extract system
- A canopy that needs a proper clean
- A fan that’s failing or too weak for the system
If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 646 2711 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.
What the work covers
- Island canopies
- Baffle filters
- Restaurants and pubs
- Mesh filters
- Wall canopies
- School and hospital kitchens
How the visit works
Protection comes first: floors, worktops and anything near the work are covered. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. It takes anything from a few minutes to an hour or so, depending on the number of filters, and we clear up before we go. Somewhere as small as Hawkenbury, the date and timings are agreed with you well before the day.
- The filters in each canopy are measured and counted.
- We set the interval with you.
- The dirty set is lifted out.
- A clean set is fitted and checked for gaps.
- We take the greasy set away and confirm the next date.
Before we arrive
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
- Move anything stored near the system
- Make sure equipment near the work can be switched off and left to cool
Ask for a quote
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from your photos and details or, where that is not enough, a survey on site. After that, you get a fixed price for the work, before work begins.
Advice
Looking after it afterwards
Think of this as the after-treatment advice, short and simple:
- Wipe the outside of the canopy as part of daily cleaning
- Watch for grease drips between visits
- Mention it if the kitchen gets busier
- Keep every filter in place during service
Your next visit is scheduled before we leave. If cooking increases, we can change filters more often to keep up.
Dripping filters are a clear sign they’re full. Changing them now reduces the fuel above the cooking, and it’s worth checking the plenum too.
What happens if it’s left?
For any kitchen in Hawkenbury, filters cannot stand in for a full TR19 clean. But clean filters do help the system between cleans, and that shows when the next clean comes round. Out of sight is the usual reason a rural system goes too long without attention.
No two sites are the same, so we price each one individually. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all play a part.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers
For anyone managing more than one site, we can schedule visits across all of them on one quote. Every building has its own written report, so each one has its own record.
Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.
Grease, kitchens and Hawkenbury
There are about 5 restaurants, cafés and canteens within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Hawkenbury, according to the Food Standards Agency’s register. Swapping filters on a schedule keeps kitchens like these drawing air properly. Kitchens in Hawkenbury get their food hygiene inspections from Maidstone council. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. Fire safety in Hawkenbury falls to Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Its fire safety officers can audit commercial kitchens, and grease in the extract is part of a kitchen’s fire risk.
Around Hawkenbury, as anywhere, we clean the parts you can’t see as well as the canopy you can. Before-and-after pictures and a TR19® certificate come with every clean around Hawkenbury.

Hawkenbury questions
Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Hawkenbury?
That is Kent Fire and Rescue Service. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.
Can you get to a site in Hawkenbury?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Hawkenbury included. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes, every time. Diagnosis comes before treatment: the survey shows what needs doing and what access we need and the fixed quote is built on it.
Does the report say when we need you again?
Yes. The recommended date is on the report. For kitchen extracts, BESA’s minimum intervals run from every 3 months for heavy use to every 12 months for light use, and fire dampers need testing at least once a year.
What accreditations do you have?
Our accreditations are CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. The Vent Hygiene Elite scheme is run by BESCA and audited independently.
Can you look after several sites?
Yes. Tell us the addresses and what each needs and you will get one fixed quote.
What happens to the dirty filters?
They leave with us. That’s the point of an exchange: clean filters in, dirty ones out and nothing greasy left on site.
How far ahead should we book?
Earlier is better, particularly for night and weekend visits. We typically quote within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.
Part by part
Mesh filters
Older or smaller canopies often use mesh filters. We exchange them on the same basis as baffles.
Busy restaurant and pub kitchens
The more a kitchen cooks, the more grease the filters see. Regular changes help protect the ductwork.
