Grease filter exchange in Beacon Hill

About our grease filter exchange in Beacon Hill

Cleaning filters by hand takes staff time and is easy to put off. An exchange service means clean filters arrive and greasy ones leave and the canopy is refilled right away. If you are dealing with a greasy plenum behind the filters and staff short of time to wash filters, we can put it right.

Somewhere as small as Beacon Hill, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease, whatever the size of the place.

It’s worth checking any contractor’s accreditations. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

Kitchen extracts in Beacon Hill

The FSA’s food hygiene register shows about 3 restaurants, cafés and canteens within 1.5 miles or so of the middle of Beacon Hill. Clogged filters slow the airflow, and busy kitchens like these clog them fast. Beacon Hill is covered by Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises. In Beacon Hill, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Buckinghamshire council. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. Keeping each certificate and photo report on file helps show the extract is looked after.

Term dates shape school work: for a school like Tylers Green First School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break. A hall kitchen that only cooks for events, whether near Parish Church of Holy Trinity or elsewhere in Beacon Hill, still needs its extract cleaned, just less often. If you run catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Hughenden Manor is about 3.5 miles north-west), event kitchens in older buildings often have awkward duct runs that need planning.

Beacon Hill is about 2 miles north-west of Beaconsfield, in Buckinghamshire. Your questions about grease filter exchange in Beacon Hill

Which council inspects kitchens in Beacon Hill?

Food hygiene inspections in Beacon Hill are carried out by Buckinghamshire council. An officer may look up into the canopy, so clean filters on the day and a recent certificate on file both help.

Which fire service covers Beacon Hill?

Beacon Hill is in the area of Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.

Which kinds of sites do you work on?

Any commercial site with kitchens or ventilation, from a small pub to a hospital. Hotels, schools, care homes, offices, shops and leisure sites are all part of our work.

What should go in our maintenance log?

Every certificate and report from each visit, filed in the maintenance log, along with your own cleaning log. BESA advises that certificates record the date, location and technician.

Which accreditations do you hold?

CHAS, SafeContractor, ISO 9001 and BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We have been trading since 2009 and we are fully insured.

What does TR19 mean?

TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.

What if parts of the system cannot be reached?

They’re marked on the report. In ductwork, new access panels are often the answer, and we can fit those.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We carry full insurance and have been trading since 2009.

What staff can safely do

Staff cleaning and specialist work are not the same thing. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but they don’t reach the grease that builds up further in. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.

What a clean won’t put right

Not every problem is solved by grease filter exchange, and we’ll tell you before work begins. It doesn’t solve:

  • Extraction problems caused by the fan rather than the filters
  • An extract that was undersized from the start
  • Grease deep in the extract system

Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Restaurants and pubs
  • Island canopies
  • Wall canopies
  • School and hospital kitchens
  • Baffle filters
  • Mesh filters

Between visits

A little care between visits keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:

  • Make sure no filter is left out
  • Tell us if the menu or opening hours change
  • Do not let the full clean slip because filters are changed
  • Clean the canopy surfaces regularly

Nothing changes for your staff, except one less greasy job. Just keep the canopy clear for the next visit and tell us if service times change.

Damaged filters leave gaps in the defence. Sorting them now keeps grease where it can be caught.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

When the building owner and the occupier are different, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party, and the report can go to both.

We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare in Beacon Hill and across Buckinghamshire. Work can be phased by floor, building or site to keep disruption down.

What we do, step by step

Protection comes first: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. It takes anything from a few minutes to an hour or so, depending on the number of filters, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. Visits to a village like Beacon Hill are booked in advance, at a time that suits whoever runs the site.

  1. We count and measure the filters in every canopy.
  2. Together we set how often the filters should be changed.
  3. On each visit, the dirty filters come out of the canopy.
  4. Clean filters go straight back in, seated properly with no gaps.
  5. Anything we notice, such as bent filters or a dirty plenum, is pointed out.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about parking and loading
  • Have your last certificate or report to hand
  • Arrange a key holder or contact on site

Getting a quote

For a fixed quote, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos and tell us the type of site, your opening hours and roughly what the system looks like. Photos and the last report, if you have one, make the quote quicker. We usually come back within one working day.

Advice

What affects the cost of grease filter exchange

The survey tells us what the work involves. The main factors are:

  • Site rules, permits and inductions
  • How many systems or sites are involved
  • The scale of the work
  • The times the site is available

When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before any work starts.

What to send for a quote

You do not need the technical terms. Just send:

  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
  • Your opening hours and when the area is out of use
  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall

Need a price for grease filter exchange? Please call us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and tell us about the site. We will explain what we’d do and send a fixed quote before anything is booked.

Part by part

Baffle filters

Baffle filters use overlapping metal blades that force the air to change direction. Grease drops out as it does.

Canopy filter housings

The filter housing holds each filter at an angle in the canopy. A damaged housing leaves gaps.
