Grease filter exchange for kitchens and businesses in Amport
Filter exchange sits between full TR19® cleans. Clean filters reduce the grease reaching the ducts, but some grease still passes through as vapour. So the canopy, plenum and ducts still need their full TR19 clean. The work covers island canopies, baffle filters and mesh filters, and people most often call us about smoke and heat lingering under the hood and grease building up behind the canopy filters.
Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, where grease settles in the flat sections. We agree access and timings in advance.
We’re CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we’re fully insured. We are also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

Amport questions
Can you get to a site in Amport?
Yes, Amport is part of our area, however small the site. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the site when you book.
Which fire service covers Amport?
That’s Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. It’s worth keeping your fire risk assessment, TR19® certificates and photo reports together, ready to show.
What does TR19 mean?
TR19® is the BESA specification for keeping ventilation systems clean. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.
What’s the right interval for changing filters?
It varies from kitchen to kitchen. The schedule is based on how heavily you cook, and adjust it if needed.
How much notice do you need?
It depends on the time you need and how big the job is. Mention your preferred dates with your enquiry, and if it’s an emergency, call us any time.
Where does the waste go?
We take it away when we go. While we work, it’s kept contained so the area stays clean.
Does the report say when we need you again?
Yes. The recommended date is on the report. BESA’s minimum intervals for kitchen extracts range from 3-monthly for heavy use to 12-monthly for light use, while fire dampers are tested at least annually.
What if some of our filters are damaged?
Each filter is looked at when we exchange. We tell you about any that are damaged since a poor fit lets grease past.
When something else is needed
Grease filter exchange cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t put right:
- Grease already built up in the ductwork, which needs a full TR19 clean
- Cooking smells reaching neighbours, which need odour control
- A fan that is failing or too weak for the system
Not sure which it is? You can call us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

What staff can safely do
If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We can diagnose it and quote.
Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.
Looking after it afterwards
Here’s the after-treatment advice, short and simple:
- Book full TR19 cleans alongside filter changes
- Look out for drips from the canopy
- Wipe the outside of the canopy as part of daily cleaning
- Tell us if a filter is bent or damaged
Keep an eye out for filters that have been taken out. A missing filter leaves a gap for grease so tell us if you need a replacement.
Bent or missing filters let grease straight past. Sorting them now keeps grease where it can be caught.
Kitchen extracts in Amport
In Amport, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Test Valley council. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. Our report lists what was cleaned and when, which is useful to have ready. Fire safety in Amport falls to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises.
Healthcare kitchens, like those at hospitals such as Andover War Memorial Hospital (about 3.7 miles east), often cook for long hours, which puts them in BESA’s heavier-use bands. Bursars and site managers at schools such as Amport Church of England Primary School tend to book extract cleaning for when the kitchen is empty.

How it works
Your trading hours come first. We book the visit for a time the area is closed, whether that is an evening, overnight or a weekend. Once we’re in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the work takes a few minutes per canopy, longer for a large kitchen with several canopies. Rural roads and tight entrances are worth telling us about before a visit to Amport.
- We look at the canopies and the condition of the filters.
- Any damaged or missing filters are noted.
- Greasy filters are swapped for clean ones.
- The filters are checked for fit before we go.
- Anything that needs attention, such as a greasy plenum, is pointed out.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear loose items from the work area
- Tell us about site rules, permits or sign-in
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
Get a fixed quote
Here’s what helps us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, a few pictures and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Once you have those, call 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.

When to call us in Amport
Kitchens in Amport, as everywhere, find filter washing slips down the list on busy weeks. It only takes a couple of missed weeks for a filter bank to clog.
It’s time to book a visit if you see:
- Staff short of time to wash filters
- Missing filters in the filter bank
- Grease left in baffles after washing
- A canopy that drips grease
Church and community hall kitchens, near Church of St Mary or anywhere around Amport, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other.

Why it’s worth doing now in Amport
Grease dripping from the canopy is a sign the filters cannot hold any more. Left, it ends up on equipment, food areas and staff and that is the kind of thing inspectors look for. Rural sites cannot always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.
A single site or a whole portfolio, we price it on the same basis: what needs doing, how we get to it and when. You will have a fixed price before any work starts.
