About our extract fan cleaning in Pin Green
Every kitchen extract depends on its fan: it draws the air through the canopy and ductwork and pushes it outside. Whatever grease slips past the filters and duct reaches the fan, and that is what we clean. We are often asked to deal with a fan shaking on its mounts and less air being pulled from the kitchen, across fan housings, centrifugal fans and roof-mounted fans.
For a smaller kitchen near Pin Green, a TR19® clean is the same job as anywhere: canopy, filters, plenum, duct, fan and discharge. We plan the visit around your hours, with the journey sorted in advance.
We’re CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we’re fully insured. We’re also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?
For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.
Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.
Why deal with it now?
Grease on a roof fan can also escape outside. It marks the area around the outlet and leaves more fuel outside, which is one more reason to keep it clean. Systems on quieter sites still build up dirt and wear, just more slowly.
One small site or a whole estate, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before any work starts.
Why us?

What we do, step by step
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool first, and the area around the work is covered and protected. On site, it takes a few hours where there are several fans or heavy deposits. Visits to a place like Pin Green are planned ahead, so we arrive with what the survey says the job needs.
- The fan is found and its type, access and isolation checked.
- It’s isolated so it cannot run while we work.
- Grease is scraped off the impeller blades and casing.
- Blades, housing and surrounds are degreased with care around the electrics.
- It’s closed up, run, checked and photographed for the report.
How to prepare
- Move anything stored near the system
- Mention any parking or loading restrictions
- Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
Getting a quote
Getting a quote doesn’t take long. Send a few details and photos, and we normally reply with a fixed quote within one working day. Where a survey is needed, we arrange a time that suits the site.

Do you need extract fan cleaning in Pin Green?
The cooler the air, the more grease drops out, and on a roof or outside wall the fan can be in some of the coolest air in the system. So grease often settles heavily there.
It’s time to book a visit if you see:
- Vibration from an unbalanced impeller
- Grease escaping from the fan outlet
- A heavily greased fan housing
- An extract fan with no cleaning record
Historic houses near Pin Green, such as Aston Bury about 3 miles south-east, are a reminder that older buildings with event kitchens can have long, awkward duct routes.
What to look for in a quote
- Their accreditations, such as BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, CHAS or SafeContractor
- What paperwork you get at the end
- Whether they’re fully insured
- Whether they recommend a next date
Aftercare tips
Good habits slow the build-up between visits. Our tips:
- Book the fan into every full TR19 clean
- Tell us if the extract feels weaker
- Don’t turn the fan off mid-service
- Notice when the fan starts to sound different
When the fan is cleaned as part of a full TR19® Grease clean, a TR19 certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. If only the fan is cleaned, the photo report says so.
The fan stays cleaner when less grease gets past the canopy. Keep the grease filters clean, fitted and in place, and replace any that are damaged.
Multi-site and managed buildings
Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We work across London and the South East, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.
We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we are happy to quote for all of it.
Questions from Pin Green
Can you get to a site in Pin Green?
Yes, we work in villages as well as towns, and Pin Green is covered. Photos of the system and directions to the site help us plan the visit.
Which council inspects kitchens in Pin Green?
Kitchens in Pin Green are inspected by Stevenage council’s environmental health officers. An officer may look up into the canopy, so clean filters on the day and a recent certificate on file both help.
Do you repair extract fans as well as clean them?
A clean will not mend wear. We repair and replace extract fans as well, with a fixed quote first.
How much notice do you need?
Earlier is better, particularly for night and weekend visits. We typically quote within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.
Do you offer extract fan cleaning separately?
Yes, a fan can be cleaned on its own. It’s useful when a fan is noisy or greasy between full cleans, but it doesn’t replace a full TR19 clean.
What’s TR19?
BESA’s ventilation hygiene specification in two main parts: TR19® Grease for kitchen extracts and TR19® Air for supply and extract systems. It isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark.
What do you do with what you remove?
It’s contained and taken away. Grease, debris and waste water are collected as the work goes on, so it doesn’t spread.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used, and we’ll suggest a schedule and quote for it.
