Need extract fan cleaning in Longstock?

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Staff cleaning and specialist work aren’t the same thing. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but they do not reach the grease that builds up further in. That part needs specialist access and equipment.

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, and that is where we come in.

Extract fan cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Longstock

The fan is cleaned as part of every full TR19® Grease clean, but a fan can also need attention on its own, for example when it’s noisy or vibrating. Where only the fan is cleaned, the report says so. Typical jobs include a fan that no longer moves enough air and a fan left out of previous cleans, across fan housings, axial fans and centrifugal fans.

Work in a small place like Longstock starts with a call to agree access and timings, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.

The sign-off is always in writing: a written report, dated and illustrated with pictures, plus a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal when the work is a TR19® Grease clean. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

How the visit works

Before we leave, we walk the area with whoever is on site. Anything we couldn’t reach or that needs attention is pointed out there and then, and it goes on the report too. All told, the work takes a few hours where there are several fans or heavy deposits. A few photos of the system help us make the most of a visit to a place like Longstock.

  1. We start by checking where the fan sits and how to isolate it.
  2. Power to the fan is isolated before anyone touches it.
  3. Grease is scraped from the impeller blades and the inside of the housing.
  4. Blades, housing and the area around the motor are degreased with care.
  5. The fan is put back into service, checked and photographed.

Why act early in Longstock

Grease on the fan is grease in the system. TR19® Grease covers the whole extract, fan included, and insurers asking for TR19 cleaning expect the full system. It’s simpler to plan the work at Longstock now than to arrange it in a hurry later.

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: how much there is, how we reach it, what state it’s in and when we can work. Ask for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.

Part by part

Impellers and blades

The impeller is the spinning part that moves the air, and grease builds up on them unevenly. An uneven coating throws it off balance, so it’s cleaned carefully blade by blade.

Kitchens with long cooking hours

A long-hours kitchen can’t afford a fan failure. Keeping the fan clean is part of avoiding that, and our 24/7 emergency callout is there if it happens anyway.

Extract fan cleaning around Longstock

Longstock is covered by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract. In Longstock, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Test Valley council. An officer looking round a kitchen will see the canopy, and grease there is hard to miss. Before-and-after photos from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand.

Healthcare kitchens can’t easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to Longstock is Andover War Memorial Hospital, about 5.8 miles north. Term dates shape school work: for a school like Test Valley School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Mary, or anywhere in Longstock, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

Longstock is about 5 miles south of Andover, in Hampshire. Longstock gets the same approach as every site we work on: diagnosis first, a fixed price, out-of-hours working where needed and a written report with photos. 683 places in Hampshire are on our list, large and small. There’s also a page for Southampton, roughly 15 miles from Longstock.

How we price extract fan cleaning

We do not publish a price list, because sites vary so much. What we look at:

  • Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
  • The condition we find in the survey
  • The number of sites or systems
  • Where the site is and how we reach it

No two sites are the same, so each one gets its own fixed quote. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all play a part.

What to send for a quote

When you call or email, it’s useful to have:

  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • Where the site is and what kind of site it is
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
  • The times we could work without disrupting the site

The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Add the site type and your opening hours, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

What a clean will not put right

Not every problem is solved by extract fan cleaning, and we’d rather say so up front. It doesn’t solve:

  • Damaged fan blades
  • A failed motor or worn bearings (that needs a fan repair or replacement)
  • Grease in the canopy and ductwork

If you’re not sure, just call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Longstock questions

Do you work at weekends in Longstock?

Yes, nights and weekends are routine for us. The work in Longstock can fit around your hours. Just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos with your opening times and we will plan around them.

Can you get to a site in Longstock?

Yes. Longstock is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Does the law say we must follow TR19?

No. The law sets the duty, and TR19® is the recognised benchmark for meeting it. Under the Fire Safety Order 2005, the responsible person must reduce fire risk, and without records, many insurers may refuse or reduce a claim.

Who has the legal duty for fire safety?

It depends on the building. The Fire Safety Order 2005 puts the duty on the responsible person, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, facilities manager or managing agent.

Are you insured?

Yes. We are fully insured, and the details are available on request.

How much does extract fan cleaning cost in Longstock?

Size, condition, access and working hours all affect the cost. Ask us for a fixed quote and we’ll usually reply within one working day.

How often does the fan need cleaning?

It depends on how many hours the kitchen cooks in BESA guidance. At the extremes, that is 3-monthly for heavy use and 12-monthly for light use, fan included.

Can you fix a fan that’s worn out?

Cleaning removes grease, but it cannot fix worn parts. Where the fan needs repair or replacement, we can do that too, with a fixed quote first.

Between visits

Looking after the system between visits is straightforward, and it makes the next visit easier:

  • Keep each photo report with the maintenance log
  • Run the extract throughout cooking
  • Tell us if the extract feels weaker
  • Check filters are seated before cooking

Keep the report with the maintenance log and fire risk assessment. It shows the fan’s condition at the time of the clean, which helps if anything changes later.

The fan stays cleaner when less grease gets past the canopy. Keep the grease filters clean, fitted and in place, and replace any that are damaged.
