Extract fan cleaning across Iver

Extract fan cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Iver

A clean fan is not a repaired fan. Anything that looks worn or damaged goes on the report and fan repair or replacement is something we also do. You’ll know whether the fan just needed cleaning or something more. The work covers centrifugal fans, fan housings and discharge points, and people most often call us about a heavily greased fan housing and a fan that has never been cleaned.

Somewhere as small as Iver, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Each still has a canopy and duct that collect grease, whatever the size of the place.

We’re CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we are fully insured. On top of that, we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

Iver questions

Can you come to Iver after we close?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. It means the site in Iver keeps running as normal. Let us know the hours you’re closed and we’ll book within them.

Is Iver within the area you cover?

Yes. Iver is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

How much notice should we give?

Earlier is better, particularly for night and weekend visits. Quotes usually come back within one working day, and emergencies are covered by our 24/7 line.

Is TR19 a legal requirement?

No. TR19® itself is not law; it’s a BESA specification. The legal duty comes from the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005: the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and cleaning to TR19® is the recognised way to show grease is under control.

What about areas you cannot get to?

They’re marked on the report. In ductwork, new access panels are often the answer, and we can fit those.

Do you work with multi-site operators?

Yes. You deal with one contact for every site across London and the South East, with visits on a regular schedule.

How long is a fan clean?

A single accessible fan does not take long, but hard-to-reach fans take more time. We plan it out of hours.

Do you offer extract fan cleaning separately?

Yes, we do. The report will make clear that only the fan was cleaned, so your TR19 records stay accurate. The whole system still needs cleaning at the intervals in BESA guidance.

What we do, step by step

We’re used to working while the site is closed. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. On site, the work takes an hour or two for most single fans. Pictures of the system and its access let us plan the work in Iver before we set off.

  1. The fan is found and its type, access and isolation checked.
  2. We isolate the power before opening the housing.
  3. Grease is scraped off the impeller blades and casing.
  4. The fan is degreased, taking care around the motor.
  5. It’s closed up, run, checked and photographed for the report.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
  • Move anything stored near the system
  • Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids

Getting a quote

Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work starts.

When to call us in Iver

Grease condenses as the air cools, and on a roof or outside wall the fan can be in some of the coolest air in the system. So grease often settles heavily there.

These are the problems we see most often:

  • A fan that no longer moves enough air
  • Grease stains around the discharge
  • Hot, greasy smells near the fan
  • A fan motor running hot under a coat of grease

Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Peter, or anywhere in Iver, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

Before booking anyone

  • Whether the whole system is included, or only the parts that are easy to reach
  • What happens if part of the system cannot be accessed
  • Their accreditations, such as BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, CHAS or SafeContractor
  • What insurance they carry

Questions to ask before booking

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes the next visit easier:

  • Book the fan into every full TR19 clean
  • Check filters are seated before cooking
  • Report rattles or humming early
  • Tell us if the extract feels weaker

If the fan needs more than a clean, we will say so plainly. Fan repair and replacement are services we offer too, so you have one point of contact.

Listen to the fan. New noise or vibration often means grease is building on the impeller, and catching it early keeps it a cleaning job.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

For anyone managing more than one site, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Each site gets its own report and pictures, so each one has its own record.

Whether it’s one building or many, you get the same standard: diagnosis, a fixed price, work booked around your hours and a written report with pictures.

Honest limits

Extract fan cleaning can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t put right:

  • An undersized fan that cannot cope
  • Grease in the duct and canopy before the fan (those need a full TR19 clean)
  • Wiring faults to the fan

If you are not sure, just call us on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Grease, kitchens and Iver

Look up Iver on the FSA’s food hygiene register and you will find about 50 cafés, restaurants and staff canteens and about 43 sandwich bars and takeaways within about 1.5 miles of central Iver. Each kitchen extract among them ends at a fan, and grease on the impeller strains the motor. In Iver, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Buckinghamshire council. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. Keeping each certificate and photo report on file helps show the extract is looked after. The fire and rescue service for Iver is Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract.

Kitchens that cook twelve hours or more a day, as some healthcare kitchens do, fall into BESA’s three-monthly minimum; Hillingdon Hospital is the nearest hospital to Iver, about 2.1 miles east. If you run a café or takeaway near Iver station, early starts and late finishes leave little time to clean, so overnight extract cleaning suits.

Iver is about 3 miles south-west of Hillingdon, in Buckinghamshire. We provide extract fan cleaning for businesses, landlords and public buildings in Iver and the rest of Buckinghamshire. Why act early in Iver

A fan that sounds rough in Iver is often telling you the extract needs a clean. Grease on the fan means grease in the duct before it, so it’s worth checking the whole system. Out of sight is the usual reason a rural system goes too long without attention.

We don’t list prices on the website, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. For a fixed quote, call us on 0345 646 2711 or email us, and we’ll talk you through it.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.

Keep a record of what your team does. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, next to our reports.
