Extract fan cleaning in East Claydon: the local picture

In East Claydon, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Buckinghamshire council. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. About 46 miles out from central London, East Claydon is part of the South East area we work across. Evening, overnight and weekend visits are all possible.

Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Claydon House is about 1.2 miles west), access may need planning. Healthcare kitchens can’t easily close, so their extracts are cleaned overnight or between meal services; the nearest hospital to East Claydon is Buckingham Community Hospital, about 5.9 miles north-west. Term dates shape school work: for a school like East Claydon Church of England School, an extract clean fits neatly into a half-term or summer break.

East Claydon is about 6 miles south-east of Buckingham, in Buckinghamshire. How we handle extract fan cleaning in East Claydon

Cleaning removes grease, not wear. If we find worn bearings, a struggling motor or damage to the impeller, we will tell you and fan repair or replacement is something we also do. You will know whether the fan just needed cleaning or something more. If you’re dealing with a fan motor running hot under a coat of grease and grease escaping from the fan outlet, we can help.

Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, where grease settles in the flat sections. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.

A written report with pictures follows every visit, so you have a record of what was done and when. Kitchen extract cleaning to TR19® Grease is certificated through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

What affects the quote in East Claydon

The survey tells us what the work involves. We look at:

  • How big the system is
  • Parking and loading at the site
  • When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we survey first, from pictures or on site, and the price is agreed before we start.

What to send for a quote

We can often survey from photos. Try to include:

  • Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
  • Your last certificate, test record or report
  • Any access panels or hatches you can see
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks

We don’t publish a price list, because every site is different. Instead, we look at your site first, from pictures or a survey, then send a fixed quote. To start, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.

Managing agents and facilities teams in East Claydon

Landlords, managing agents and facilities managers book us, not only the businesses that use the systems. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we are happy to quote for all of it.

For anyone managing more than one site, we can plan visits across the whole estate and price them together. Every building has its own written report, so each one has its own record.

East Claydon: your questions answered

Do you do school kitchen extract cleaning in East Claydon in the summer holidays?

Yes. Half-terms and the summer break are the natural time for school work. Around East Claydon, the Food Standards Agency lists about 2 schools and colleges with registered kitchens within a mile and a half or so. Booking early in the term gives the best choice of holiday dates.

Can you get to a site in East Claydon?

Yes, East Claydon is part of our area, however small the site. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.

What accreditations do you have?

We are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we’re fully insured.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Plans on a 3, 6 or 12-monthly cycle are available, depending on what the system needs.

Do you look at the system first?

Yes. Every job is surveyed first, from your photos and details, or with a visit where needed. Then you get a fixed quote.

How often does the fan need cleaning?

With the whole system, at intervals set by BESA guidance: every 3, 6 or 12 months. Some fans need attention sooner.

How long will it take to clean the fan?

Size, access and build-up all affect it. Typically it takes a few hours where there are several fans or heavy deposits.

What’s TR19?

TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, and TR19® Air covers general supply and extract systems.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but hidden parts of the system still need specialist attention.

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they can’t safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, and that’s where we come in.

Why it’s worth doing now in East Claydon

An unbalanced fan gets worse, not better. It wears bearings and mounts and can lead to a breakdown and a kitchen can’t cook safely without extraction. Cleaning it early is far less disruptive. Out of sight is the usual reason a rural system goes too long without attention.

Kitchens, offices, schools and hospitals are all priced the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Call for a fixed quote and we will explain each part.

How it works

The first job on site is protection: sheeting goes over floors and surfaces close to the work. After that, the system is made safe and the work begins. It takes an hour or two for most single fans, and the area is cleaned down before we leave. If you can send pictures, we can arrive in East Claydon knowing what to expect.

  1. First we locate the fan and agree how it’s safely isolated.
  2. Power to the fan is isolated before anyone touches it.
  3. We remove the grease from the blades, impeller and casing.
  4. The fan and its surrounds are degreased, keeping clear of the motor’s electrics.
  5. It’s closed up, run and checked, and pictures go into your report.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions
  • Have your last certificate or report to hand

When it’s something else

Extract fan cleaning can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It doesn’t solve:

  • An impeller that is bent or split
  • A dirty duct upstream of the fan
  • A faulty speed controller or isolator

Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711 or email us and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What the work covers

  • Axial fans
  • In-line fans
  • Fan housings
  • Centrifugal fans
  • Roof-mounted fans
  • Discharge points

Part by part

Fan housings and motors

Motors and their electrics are kept dry and treated with care, and the fan is isolated throughout. Grease around the motor can make it run hotter, so we clean what we safely can.

Wall fans

A wall fan pushes the air straight outside. We isolate it, then clean the blades and housing.
