Extract fan cleaning in Beauchamp Roding

How we handle extract fan cleaning in Beauchamp Roding

We’ve been trading since 2009. As a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, we clean to BESA TR19® Grease, and we are fully insured, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. The work covers discharge points, in-line fans and fan housings, and common reasons people get in touch are an extract fan that vibrates or rattles and a fan that hums, whines or rumbles.

In a small place like Beauchamp Roding, kitchens are often in older or extended buildings, with long single-storey duct runs, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.

Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

Multi-site and managed buildings

From a single site to a large estate, the standard is the same: the system surveyed, the price fixed, the visit fitted around trading and everything written up afterwards.

We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare across Essex. Larger estates can be phased building by building to keep disruption down.

Different parts, different methods

Kitchens with long cooking hours

When a busy kitchen’s fan fails, cooking stops. A clean fan is less likely to strain, and our 24/7 emergency callout is there if it happens anyway.

Wall fans

A wall fan pushes the air straight outside. It’s isolated, opened and cleaned inside and out.

What affects the cost of extract fan cleaning

The quote reflects the site in front of us. We consider:

  • Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
  • Travel, parking and unloading
  • The times the site is available
  • Whether several sites go on one quote

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why every job is surveyed first, and the price is agreed before work begins.

What we need to know

Photos and a few facts are often enough to price the work. Send what you can of the following:

  • Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings

For extract fan cleaning in Beauchamp Roding, call 0345 646 2711 or email us. Let us know the site type and the opening hours, plus pictures or the previous report if they’re to hand. A fixed quote typically follows within one working day.

Beauchamp Roding questions

Do you work in villages like Beauchamp Roding?

Yes. Beauchamp Roding is within the area we cover across London and the South East. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.

Who would carry out a food hygiene inspection at a kitchen in Beauchamp Roding?

The local authority for Beauchamp Roding is Epping Forest council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. An officer may look up into the canopy, so clean filters on the day and a recent certificate on file both help.

What happens to the waste?

Waste is contained during the work and removed when we leave, from grease and debris to used cleaning water. None of it is left on site.

Do we lose a day’s trading?

Not normally. We work when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends, so you keep your normal hours.

What does TR19 mean?

It’s the industry benchmark for cleaning ventilation and kitchen extract systems, written by BESA. It covers how systems are inspected, cleaned and checked and expects a risk-based approach.

What happens if you can’t reach some of it?

The report shows them clearly. In ductwork, new access panels are often the answer, which we can install.

What makes a kitchen extract fan vibrate?

Build-up on the impeller is a frequent reason, since uneven grease makes it run out of balance. Worn bearings and motor problems are others, which our report will flag.

What accreditations do you have?

We hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. Vent Hygiene Elite is run by BESCA and independently audited.

What happens if it’s left?

A fan that fails mid-service can stop a kitchen cooking. Many fan problems start with grease, so cleaning the fan helps keep it working. We also offer a 24/7 emergency callout if the worst happens. Rural sites cannot always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.

A single site or a whole portfolio, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the timing. The price is fixed before work begins.

Staff cleaning versus specialist work

Good housekeeping makes our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and tidy surfaces slow the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.

When your team notices a problem between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We will take a look and give you a fixed quote.

When it’s something else

Before booking, it helps to know what’s not included:

  • A faulty speed controller or isolator
  • A cracked or broken impeller (it needs replacing)
  • A dirty duct upstream of the fan

If you are not sure, just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will give you a straight answer.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Axial fans
  • Fan housings
  • Roof-mounted fans
  • In-line fans
  • Centrifugal fans
  • Discharge points

What we do, step by step

There are three stages on the day: getting the area ready, doing the work and signing it off. Getting ready means protecting surfaces and switching off what needs to be off, while signing off means the written report and pictures. The middle part takes longest, and that takes an hour or two for most single fans. Rural roads and tight entrances are worth telling us about before a visit to Beauchamp Roding.

  1. We find the fan and check how it’s reached and how it’s isolated.
  2. With the fan isolated, the housing is opened.
  3. Grease is scraped from the impeller blades and the inside of the housing.
  4. We degrease the fan and housing, taking care around the motor.
  5. It’s closed up, run and checked, and photos go into your report.

Before we arrive

  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
  • Tell us where we can park and unload
  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down

How to get a quote

There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. Instead, we look at your site first, from photos or a survey, and then give you a fixed quote. To start, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email.
