Duct cleaning in Test Valley
Professional ductwork cleaning in and around Test Valley, timed so the site keeps working and finished with a written report and photos.

- A duct clean needed for an insurer
- Grease leaking from duct joints
When it’s something else
In fairness, there are a few things this work won’t fix:
- A worn-out fan that needs replacing
- Fire dampers that do not close (they need testing and remedials)
- Ductwork that was poorly designed
If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 646 2711 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.
What the work covers
- Access panels
- Vertical risers
- Attenuators
- Bends and junctions
- Multi-storey ducts
- Horizontal duct runs
Ductwork cleaning in Test Valley, done properly
Many ducts were installed with too few access doors. Where a section can’t be reached, TR19 expects it to be recorded on the report, and new panels can be fitted to reach it in future. It’s better to know than to assume. If you’re dealing with gaps where access panels were never fitted and thick deposits at the bottom of a vertical duct, we can put it right, from horizontal duct runs, access panels and vertical risers onwards.
Rural kitchens often have long, low duct runs through a roof space or along an outside wall, and those horizontal sections are where grease settles. Access, parking and timings are agreed before the day.
Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, with full insurance on top.

Common problems we fix in Test Valley
A duct with too few access doors can’t be fully cleaned. Sections between panels go uncleaned, sometimes since the system was installed, and the grease there keeps building out of sight.
Any of these means the system needs a check-up:
- Proof of duct cleaning for the insurer
- A rancid smell from the extract duct
- Heavy grease at the base of a riser
- Thick crusts of old grease along the duct
If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near Church of St James or elsewhere in Test Valley, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event.
What to look for in a quote
- When they can work, and whether that is outside your opening hours
- Whether the quote shows VAT
- Whether the whole system is included, or only the parts that are easy to reach
- Whether they’re fully insured
Questions from Test Valley
Which fire authority looks after Test Valley?
Test Valley is in the area of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. TR19® is not law, but it’s the benchmark many fire officers and insurers look to when they ask how often the extract is cleaned.
Which environmental health team covers Test Valley?
Kitchens in Test Valley are inspected by Test Valley council’s environmental health officers. How often a business is inspected depends on the risk rating the council gives it, so it’s worth staying ready all year.
What’s involved in cleaning extract ducts?
After a survey and grease readings, the duct is opened up through its access panels. We clean the runs and risers section by section, and test again when we are done.
Do you offer emergency callouts?
Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7 for anything that cannot wait until a planned visit. Ring any time and tell us what’s happened.
Can you look after several sites?
Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and we’ll quote them together.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We carry full insurance and have been trading since 2009.
Which kinds of sites do you work on?
All kinds of commercial and public premises: from restaurants, pubs and hotels to schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, shops and food production sites. Work is timed around how each site runs.
Can you set up regular visits?
Yes, of course. Tell us what you have and how it’s used, and we’ll suggest a schedule and quote for it.
Different parts, different methods
Horizontal duct runs
Flat runs of duct link the canopy to the riser or the outside wall. They collect grease as the air cools and slows, and we clean them section by section through access panels.
Bends and transitions
Transitions from the canopy spigot into the duct catch a lot of grease. We clean it from the canopy side or through a nearby panel.
How it works
We turn up at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool before work begins, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. On site, it takes from a few hours to more than one visit, depending on duct length and access. Seeing the system in photos first means the trip to Test Valley can be planned properly.
- First the duct route is traced and every access point noted.
- Grease readings are taken at set points along the duct.
- Access panels are opened and heavy deposits scraped out by hand.
- Horizontal runs and risers are then degreased by the method that suits the deposit.
- We test again, take pictures and note any part that couldn’t be reached.
Before we arrive
- Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
- Mention any locked doors, roof access or ceiling voids
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
Getting a quote
We don’t publish a price list, because every site is different. We look at your system first, from pictures or on a visit, then send a fixed quote. To get going, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers
We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the site, the work and the access arrangements and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit produces a dated report with pictures, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.
What affects the cost of ductwork cleaning
A fixed price needs a few facts first. We check:
- How big the system is
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
- Where the site is and how we reach it
- The condition of the system
Working hours, access and the scale of the site can all change the price. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before we start.
Helping us quote
A few details help us quote accurately. With your enquiry, please include:
- The postcode and the type of business
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
- Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
To help us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, a few photos and any previous report or certificate. Once you have those, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.
Looking after it afterwards
Results last longer with the right care. We suggest:
- Keep grease filters clean and fitted whenever you cook
- Keep your cleaning records together
- Keep the fan on while anything is cooking
- Consider fitting panels where the report shows gaps
Every panel we open is refitted when we finish, and the area around them is cleaned down. Waste grease and water are taken away.
Grease that never reaches the duct never needs cleaning out of it. Clean, properly seated filters are the duct’s best protection.
