Canopy cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Wooburn
Canopy cleans are done out of hours: evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. The equipment underneath is switched off, left to cool and sheeted so the kitchen is ready when we go. If you have condensation and grease dripping together and fat running down the front of the hood, we can help, from grease gutters, wall canopies and island canopies onwards.
Work in a small place like Wooburn starts with a call to agree access and timings, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy to discharge, then a TR19® certificate and a photo report.
The report is your system’s health record: a dated account with pictures of everything we did. Grease extract cleans are also certificated to TR19® Grease through the BESCA VHE portal and sits alongside the report.

Honest limits
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- Ductwork and fans beyond the canopy (those need a full TR19 clean)
- A light fitting that does not work
- A canopy too small for the cooking under it (that is a design question)
If in doubt, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll say what we think.

The process
We work around your opening hours, not the other way round. Most visits are booked for when the area is out of use, such as evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. Once we are in, the area is sheeted and anything that has to be off is turned off and cooled, and the job takes a few hours for most canopies. A few pictures of the system help us make the most of a visit to a place like Wooburn.
- We start by checking the canopy, filters and plenum.
- Equipment below is switched off and left to cool, then sheeted.
- Filters come out and the plenum behind them is scraped and degreased.
- We degrease the canopy shell, its seams and the grease troughs.
- Clean filters are refitted and before and after pictures go into your report.
How to prepare
- Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
- Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
Getting a quote
Every quote begins with a look at the system, either from pictures and details you send or from a site visit. After that, you get a fixed price for the work so you know the cost before any work starts.

Canopy cleaning in Wooburn: the local picture
According to Food Standards Agency records, there are about 17 pubs and bars within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Wooburn. Where they serve hot food, their kitchen extracts need cleaning to TR19® like any restaurant’s. Kitchens in Wooburn get their food hygiene inspections from Buckinghamshire council. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. A dated certificate in the maintenance file answers the question before it’s asked. Wooburn sits within the area of Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract.
For kitchens close to Bourne End station, where the day often starts early and ends late, the extract can be cleaned overnight. If you run a church or community hall kitchen, near Church of St Paul or elsewhere in Wooburn, its extract still collects grease from every lunch and event.
Wooburn is about 3 miles south-west of Beaconsfield, in Buckinghamshire. Whatever kind of site you run in Wooburn, canopy cleaning is something we can help with. We work in commercial kitchens and buildings around Bourne End Academy and The Old Bell pub, among other places. The closest station to Wooburn is Bourne End station, about 0.9 miles west. A little further out are Chiltern Sound Phonograph Museum (3.8 miles west) and Marlow Community Hospital (3.5 miles west). The countryside around Wooburn includes Taplow Lake and Warren Nature Reserve.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
In-house cleaning and specialist cleaning do different jobs. Wiping filters daily and washing them weekly keeps the visible parts in order, but they don’t reach the grease that builds up further in. That part needs specialist access and equipment.
Logging matters as much as cleaning. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks helps show that the system is managed between specialist visits, alongside our reports.
Common problems we fix in Wooburn
Filters that are missing, damaged or badly seated leave gaps. More grease reaches the plenum and housing than they’re designed to take, which shows up as heavy deposits when the filters come out.
It’s time to book a visit if you see:
- Condensation and grease dripping together
- Drips from the canopy onto the range
- Filters that never seem to stay clean
- Overflowing grease troughs and gutters
A hospital like Marlow Community Hospital, about 3.5 miles west, is the kind of site where a kitchen may cook for patients, staff and visitors all day.
What to look for in a quote
- Exactly which parts of the system are covered
- Their accreditations, such as BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, CHAS or SafeContractor
- How they set the interval to the next visit
- Whether a survey comes first
Multi-site and managed buildings
Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.
Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Every visit ends with a dated report and pictures, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.
Wooburn: your questions answered
Who inspects food businesses in Wooburn?
The local authority for Wooburn is Buckinghamshire council, and its environmental health team does the inspecting. How often a business is inspected depends on the risk rating the council gives it, so it’s worth staying ready all year.
Who is the fire and rescue service for Wooburn?
That is Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. If a fire safety officer visits a commercial kitchen, they may ask about the fire risk assessment and how the extract is kept clean.
What do you do to protect the area?
We cover floors and nearby surfaces with sheeting before any work starts, and anything we remove is contained. At the end, the area is cleaned down.
Is Wooburn in your area?
Yes. Our area takes in London and the counties of South East England, and that includes Wooburn.
What should I send you?
Where the site is, what it is and when it’s open, along with a few pictures and any previous report.
Which sectors do you work in?
Restaurants and pubs, hotels, schools and colleges, hospitals and care homes, offices and retail, plus food production and leisure sites.
Do you offer emergency callouts?
Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7, for problems that cannot wait. Call us any time and explain what’s happened.
Is TR19 a legal requirement?
Not in itself. Insurers, fire officers and EHOs look to TR19® as the benchmark, and many insurers ask for proof of cleaning to it. The law behind it is the Fire Safety Order 2005 in England and Wales.
What happens if it’s left?
Leaving the canopy until the next full clean can mean months of build-up. In a busy kitchen, the canopy and plenum can need attention between TR19 cleans, and readings or a look behind the filters will show it. Planning a trip to Wooburn ahead is easier for everyone than a rushed one.
No two sites are the same, so each one gets its own fixed quote. The size of the job, how we reach it, its condition and the working hours all make a difference.
