Canopy cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Wigginton
We clean canopies in Wigginton when the kitchen is not cooking: evenings, overnight, early mornings or weekends. The equipment underneath is switched off, left to cool and sheeted, and the kitchen is left ready for the next service. Common call-outs are for smoke hanging around the canopy during service and grease channels that no longer drain, on island canopies, grease gutters and baffle filters.
In a village or hamlet like Wigginton, the kitchens that need extract cleaning are typically a pub, a school, a care home or a hall kitchen, wherever there is one. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease.
Think of the report as the system’s health record: a dated account with photos of everything we did. Grease extract cleans are also certificated to TR19® Grease through the BESCA VHE portal, ready for your insurer.

Wigginton questions
Which fire authority looks after Wigginton?
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service is the fire and rescue service for Wigginton. Records of extract cleaning are a sensible thing to have ready if a fire safety officer carries out an audit.
Do you work overnight in Wigginton?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. That way a site in Wigginton doesn’t have to lose a day’s trading. Just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711, or email photos with your opening times and we’ll plan around them.
What happens if you can’t reach some of it?
They’re listed in the report, never skipped quietly. You’ll know exactly which parts weren’t reached and why, and we can quote to improve the access.
What is TR19?
TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. TR19® Grease, a standalone specification since 2019, covers grease in kitchen extract systems, while TR19® Air covers other supply and extract ductwork.
Do you offer emergency callouts?
Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7 for anything that cannot wait until a planned visit. Call us any time and explain what’s happened.
Is TR19 a legal requirement?
Not in itself. TR19® is the benchmark insurers, fire officers and EHOs check against, and many insurers ask for proof of cleaning to it. The legal duty sits in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in England and Wales.
Do we need to close while you work?
Not normally. We need the work area to ourselves while we’re on site, so we book a time when it would be closed anyway.
How much does canopy cleaning cost?
Size, condition, access and working hours all affect the cost. Call for a fixed quote, usually ready within one working day.
When it’s something else
An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work can’t put right:
- Faulty canopy lights or wiring (a job for an electrician)
- Ductwork and fans beyond the canopy (those need a full TR19 clean)
- Weak extraction caused by a failing fan motor
If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 646 2711, or send details by email and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.
What the work covers

Canopy cleaning in Wigginton: the local picture
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service covers Wigginton. In most workplaces, including commercial kitchens, it’s the fire and rescue authority that enforces the Fire Safety Order. In Wigginton, food businesses are inspected by environmental health officers from Cherwell council. They look at how clean the premises and equipment are, and the kitchen extract is part of that. Before-and-after photos from each clean are a simple way to show the extract is in hand.
If you run catering at a healthcare site, such as a hospital like Horton General Hospital about 5.7 miles north-east, the extract may need cleaning more often than a part-time kitchen. Church and community hall kitchens, near Church of Saint Giles or anywhere around Wigginton, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other. If you run catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Broughton Castle is about 3.5 miles north-east), event kitchens in older buildings often have awkward duct runs that need planning.
Wigginton is about 6 miles south-west of Banbury, in Oxfordshire. Every kind of commercial site in Wigginton, we can take on canopy cleaning. We can work out of hours so the site keeps running. Wigginton is one of 443 places in Oxfordshire we cover for commercial clients. Oxford is in our area too, around 19 miles away.
Canopy cleaning in OX15 is surveyed, quoted and booked the same way as anywhere else. If you need canopy cleaning at premises on Wigginton Road and Oxhey Rise or anywhere close by, we can help. Within a short drive, we also cover Banbury (6 miles north-east), Bicester (13 miles south-east), Witney (15 miles south), Kidlington (14 miles south-east), Bure Park (13 miles south-east) and Chipping Norton (6 miles south-west).

Multi-site and managed buildings
Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We work across London and the South East, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.
We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare in Wigginton and across Oxfordshire. Work can be phased by floor, building or site to keep disruption down.
What affects the quote in Wigginton
Sites vary more than people expect. The main factors:
- The condition we find in the survey
- Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
- Where the site is and how we reach it
What you pay depends on how big the system is, the condition it’s in and how easy it is to reach. We give you a fixed price before work begins, so you know where you stand.
What to send for a quote
What to send for a quote:
- Any previous report or certificate
- The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
- Wide pictures of the system and the area around it
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
To help us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, a few pictures and any previous report or certificate. Once you have those, call 0345 646 2711 or send us an email.
What staff can safely do
Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. The inside of ducts and units needs a specialist.
A few tasks are always specialist work: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.
What happens if it’s left?
A blocked plenum and clogged filters cut the airflow at the canopy. Smoke and heat hang around the cooking line, and the fan works harder for less. Cleaning restores the path the air should take. Out of sight is the usual reason a rural system goes too long without attention.
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, which can make the next visit longer. If you are unsure, call us on 0345 646 2711, or send details by email for straight advice and a fixed quote.

The process
We turn up at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool first, and the area around the work is covered and protected. The work itself takes an hour or two for one small canopy, longer where there are several. Somewhere like Wigginton, lanes, gates and parking are worth mentioning in advance.
- We look at the canopy first, from pictures or on a visit.
- The range is turned off and allowed to cool before we cover it.
- With the filters out, the plenum and housing are cleaned back.
- We degrease the canopy shell, its seams and the grease troughs.
- Filters go back, the area is cleaned down and pictures are taken.
How to prepare
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
- Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
- Mention any parking or loading restrictions
Get a fixed quote
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

Island canopies
An island canopy is open on all sides, which means grease settles on all four sides. We clean all of them, inside and out.
Grease troughs and gutters
Where a trough drains into a grease cup, that’s emptied and cleaned too, and we will show staff where it is.
