Buckinghamshire · Canopy and hood cleaning
Little Marlow canopy cleaning
One call covers canopy and hood cleaning in Little Marlow: survey, fixed quote, work and sign-off. Fully insured, with CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001.
- Condensation and grease dripping together
- A plenum thick with grease behind the filters
- Canopy gutters full of old fat
How we handle canopy cleaning in Little Marlow
Dripping edges and a sticky hood are the first things a visitor notices. What is not seen, behind the filters, tends to be worse. Canopy cleaning deals with both, so the hood looks right and works properly. We are often asked to deal with greasy streaks across the canopy and overflowing grease troughs and gutters, across baffle filters, wall canopies and grease gutters.
Somewhere as small as Little Marlow, commercial kitchens are few: perhaps a pub, a school or care home kitchen, or a hall used for events. Every one of them still needs its extract kept clear of grease.
Nothing is signed off by word of mouth: a written report, dated and illustrated with pictures, plus a certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal when the work is a TR19® Grease clean. Any parts we couldn’t reach are recorded on it too.

Little Marlow: your questions answered
Can you clean school kitchen extracts in Little Marlow during the holidays?
Yes, out-of-term visits are normal for schools. The FSA’s register shows about 5 schools and colleges with food registrations within roughly a mile and a half of Little Marlow. Send us your term dates when you ring 0345 646 2711 or email us, and we’ll fit the work in.
Do you work overnight in Little Marlow?
Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. Your customers, staff or residents in Little Marlow needn’t be disturbed. Let us know the hours you’re closed and we’ll book within them.
What do you do with what you remove?
It leaves the site with us when we go. While we work, it’s kept contained to keep the area clean.
Can you look after several sites?
Yes. Send the list of sites and the work at each and you’ll get one fixed quote.
Does a canopy clean meet TR19?
A TR19® Grease clean covers the whole system, not just the canopy. A canopy clean helps between full cleans, but the ducts and fan still need doing, and the report will say what was covered.
How much of the canopy do you clean?
We clean the canopy inside and out, along with its seams and grease channels. The plenum and filter housing behind the filters are cleaned too.
Are you insured?
Yes. We’re fully insured, and we can share the details when you need them.
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes, any time. If something urgent happens, like a fan failing or damage after a fire, call our 24/7 line, and we’ll advise on what to do next.
When to call us in Little Marlow
Most canopies have troughs or channels that catch running grease. If they’re not emptied, they fill and overflow, so fat ends up running down the front of the hood.
These are the problems we see most often:
- A sticky, discoloured canopy
- A filter housing caked in grease
- Condensation and grease dripping together
- Drips from the canopy onto the range
Church and community hall kitchens, near Church of St John the Baptist or anywhere around Little Marlow, are easy to forget, but their extracts collect grease like any other.
What to look for in a quote
- What’s included in the scope, part by part
- What hours they’ll be on site
- When the next visit should be, and why
- Whether they’re fully insured

Leave it or put it right?
Leaving the canopy until the next full clean can mean months of build-up. In a busy kitchen, the canopy and plenum can need attention between TR19 cleans, and readings or a look behind the filters will show it. It’s simpler to plan the work at Little Marlow now than to arrange it in a hurry later.
Several systems or sites on one quote can make for a more efficient booking. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at, and you will get one fixed quote.

Looking after it afterwards
Think of this as the after-treatment advice, in brief:
- Give the canopy a wipe after service
- Use non-abrasive cloths on the hood
- Leave the extract running until cooking stops
- Check all filters are fitted before service
Anything worth knowing goes into the report: bent or poorly fitting filters, a light cover that’s cracked, or troughs that fill too quickly. It’s a short list of what to watch, not a sales pitch.
Clean filters are the canopy’s first defence. Wash or exchange them regularly, and never cook with one missing. The plenum behind them stays cleaner.
Kitchen extracts in Little Marlow
The FSA’s food hygiene register includes about 15 pubs, bars and clubs and about 3 hotels, B&Bs and guest houses within roughly a mile and a half of the centre of Little Marlow. Breakfasts, bar meals and functions all put grease into the extract wherever they’re cooked. It’s Buckinghamshire council that sends environmental health officers to food businesses in Little Marlow. Extraction counts as kitchen equipment, so its condition can come up on the day. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector. Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service covers Little Marlow. Fire and rescue authorities enforce the Fire Safety Order in most non-domestic premises, and in a kitchen that fire risk includes the grease in the extract.
If you run catering at a historic house or estate in the area (Cliveden is about 2.9 miles south-east), event kitchens in older buildings often have awkward duct runs that need planning. When something else is needed
We’d rather tell you now than book work that will not help, so these are the things it will not cover:
- A dirty extract fan further along the system
- Filters that no longer seal in the housing
- A hood that does not cover the cooking line
Not sure which it is? You can phone us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will tell you honestly.

How the visit works
The visit has three parts: set-up, the treatment itself and the sign-off. Set-up means sheeting and making equipment safe, while signing off means the written report and photos. The middle part takes longest, and that takes an hour or two for one small canopy, longer where there are several. Somewhere like Little Marlow, lanes, gates and parking are worth mentioning in advance.
- We look at the canopy, filters and troughs first.
- Out of hours, the range is switched off, cooled and covered.
- With the filters removed, the plenum and filter channels are cleaned.
- Inside and out, the hood and its troughs are cleaned.
- We put the filters back, tidy up and photograph the finished canopy.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any sign-in, permit or induction we need
- Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
- Agree a time when the area can be out of use
Get a fixed quote
Some systems can be priced from photos; others need a survey. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.
Related advice
What your team can do, and what needs us
For ventilation and air handling systems, in-house care is mostly about checks: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
A few tasks are always specialist work: opening up ductwork, cleaning fans, drop testing fire dampers and measuring grease call for the right kit, training and safe access. Leave those to us.
What affects the cost of canopy cleaning
We do not publish a price list, because no two systems are the same. The quote depends on:
- Where the site is and how we reach it
- Site rules, permits and inductions
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
- Whether we need access equipment or extra panels
Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Problems in a system tend to grow, which can make the next visit longer. If you are unsure, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed quote.
What to send for a quote
We can often survey from photos. The most useful are:
- Where the site is and what kind of site it is
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- Problems your staff have spotted
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
Photos are the quickest way to a quote: the system from a couple of angles, plus any access panels or hatches. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and we can price many jobs without a visit.
