Canopy and hood cleaning in Chertsey, Surrey
Canopy cleaning across Chertsey and nearby, booked around your opening hours and signed off in writing with photos.
- Condensation running down the canopy
- A sticky, discoloured canopy
- Grease dripping from the canopy edge
What happens if it’s left?
Baked-on grease gets harder to shift the longer it stays. Over months, the heat hardens it into a stubborn coating, so the longer it’s left, the longer the clean takes. Even a site near Chertsey that is only busy part of the week needs its system checked on a schedule.
What you pay depends on the size of the system, what state it’s in and access to every part of it. We give you a fixed price before work begins, so there are no surprises.

Canopy cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Chertsey
If the canopy in Chertsey is dripping, sticky or overdue a clean? A photo of the canopy and filters is a good start when you ring 0345 646 2711 or email us, and you will get a fixed price, normally within one working day. If you are dealing with condensation and grease dripping together and grease filters blocking between washes, we can put it right, from island canopies, wall canopies and canopy light fittings onwards.
For a smaller kitchen near Chertsey, a TR19® clean is the same job as anywhere: canopy, filters, plenum, duct, fan and discharge. We plan the visit around your hours, with the journey sorted in advance.
We’ve been trading since 2009, as a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we carry full insurance.

How the visit works
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Anything that needs to be off for the work is switched off and left to cool before work begins, and the area around the work is covered and protected. On site, it takes a few hours for most canopies. Getting to the system matters more than parking in a place like Chertsey, so let us know how to reach it.
- We look at the canopy first, from photos or on a visit.
- Cooking equipment is left to cool and the area under the canopy protected.
- Filters come out and the plenum behind them is scraped and degreased.
- The canopy is cleaned inside and out, including troughs and seams.
- Clean filters are refitted and before and after photos go into your report.
How to prepare
- Tell us the best time to work, such as after service or at a weekend
- Tell us where we can park and unload
- Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
Getting a quote
Every quote begins with a look at the system, either from photos and details you send or from a site visit. Then we send a fixed price so you know the cost before we start.
Advice
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: keeping grilles clear, noting unusual noise or smells and logging filter changes. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.
Keep a record of what your team does. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.
Chertsey: your questions answered
Who carries out food hygiene inspections in Chertsey?
Food hygiene inspections in Chertsey are carried out by Runnymede council. Have your latest TR19® certificate and photo report to hand, as an officer may ask how the extract is maintained.
Which fire authority looks after Chertsey?
That’s Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. TR19® isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark many fire officers and insurers look to when they ask how often the extract is cleaned.
Are the filters cleaned too?
The filters come out so the plenum behind them can be cleaned, and they’re cleaned before going back in. Any that are damaged are noted on the report.
What kinds of canopies do you clean?
Single hoods, long wall canopies and island canopies alike. The survey tells us how best to clean yours, from pictures or a visit.
Do you provide photos of the cleaned canopy?
Before and after photos go into a report that lists what was cleaned and anything we couldn’t reach. A full TR19 clean adds a certificate from the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.
How much notice do you need?
Book as early as you can for planned work, particularly if your next visit is nearly due. Emergencies are different, because our line is open 24/7.
Can you look after several sites?
Yes. Tell us the addresses and what each needs and you will get one fixed quote.
Do we lose a day’s trading?
Not normally. Out-of-hours visits keep the disruption down. Bigger sites can be done in stages so parts stay in use.
Keeping the system healthy
After the visit, a few habits help the work last:
- Flag any change in how the canopy behaves
- Clean the hood’s outer surfaces daily
- Never run the range with a filter out
- Keep grease cups and drawers emptied
A full system clean comes with a TR19 certificate from the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal. If the job covers only the canopy, the paperwork reflects that.
Keep the fan running throughout service and for a short while after. Air that keeps moving carries less grease onto the canopy.
Multi-site and managed buildings
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, and that can be the employer, the owner, a landlord, a facilities manager or a managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.
When the building owner and the occupier are different, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We are happy to deal with either side and send the paperwork to whoever needs it.

What canopy cleaning cannot fix
Canopy cleaning can’t fix everything, and we will tell you before we start. It will not put right:
- Grease in the duct runs and risers behind the canopy
- A canopy too small for the cooking under it (that is a design question)
- Electrical faults in the canopy
If in doubt, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Canopy cleaning in Chertsey: the local picture
The Food Standards Agency lists about 23 pubs and bars as registered food businesses in and around Chertsey, up to about a mile and a half out. A pub or hotel kitchen that cooks every day builds up grease in its extract like any other. Surrey Fire and Rescue Service covers Chertsey. The Fire Safety Order puts the duty on whoever runs a kitchen to control its fire risk, and a greasy duct is fuel. Environmental health officers from Runnymede council inspect food businesses in Chertsey. A greasy canopy or dripping filters are the sort of thing an inspection can pick up. A TR19® certificate and photo report after each clean gives you a record to show an inspector.
For schools such as St Anne's Catholic Primary School, kitchen extract cleaning is usually booked for the holidays, when the canteen is closed. A hospital like Runnymede Hospital, about 1 mile south-west, is the kind of site where a kitchen may cook for patients, staff and visitors all day. Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Peter, or anywhere in Chertsey, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it.

What affects the cost of canopy cleaning
The quote reflects the site in front of us. We take into account:
- Travel, parking and unloading
- How easy every part is to reach
- How many systems or sites are involved
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before any work starts.
Helping us quote
There’s no need for technical detail. Just send:
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- How we’d reach plant on a roof or in a plant room
- The times we could work without disrupting the site
- The postcode and the type of business
There’s no standard price list, because no two systems are the same. Instead, we look at your site first, from photos or a survey, and then give you a fixed quote. To start, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.
