Canopy cleaning around Bay View
Bay View is within about 2 miles of the coast. Salt air speeds up corrosion of roof-level fans, discharge cowls and their fixings. According to Food Standards Agency records, there are about 7 pubs, bars and clubs in and around Bay View, up to about a mile and a half out. Any of them serving cooked food has an extract to keep clean, from canopy to discharge. Bay View sits within the area of Kent Fire and Rescue Service. The Fire Safety Order puts the duty on whoever runs a kitchen to control its fire risk, and a greasy duct is fuel.
Whether the kitchen is in Bay View itself or nearby, a TR19® clean covers the whole system, canopy to discharge.
Bay View is about 4 miles east of Minster, in Kent. Across the ME12 area, we can take on canopy cleaning. Our Kent coverage runs to 922 places, Bay View among them. For sites nearby, see our Maidstone page, about 18 miles away.
Here we cover the ME12 postcode area for canopy cleaning. You will find streets such as Mustards Road, Warden View Gardens and Danes Drive, and we cover them all for canopy cleaning. We also cover the places around Bay View: Uplees (4 miles south), Oare (5 miles south), Conyer (5 miles south-west), Teynham Street (5 miles south-west) and The Brents (5 miles south). Larger places within reach include Canterbury (11 miles south-east), Sittingbourne (8 miles south-west), Whitstable (7 miles south-east), Faversham (6 miles south), Herne Bay (10 miles east) and Minster (4 miles west).
Canopy cleaning in Bay View, done properly
Dripping edges and a sticky hood are the first things a visitor notices. Under the surface, the plenum behind the filters is usually in a worse state. We clean both, so the canopy is clean where it shows and where it doesn’t. If you’re dealing with a hood coated in old grease and a canopy flagged at an environmental health inspection, we can help, from baffle filters, plenum chambers and island canopies onwards.
For a kitchen in or near Bay View, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean covers the whole system, as it would anywhere: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.
Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we are fully insured. On top of that, we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, trading since 2009.

How the visit works
We are used to working while the site is closed. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so a kitchen or building can carry on as usual the next day. On site, the work takes an hour or two for one small canopy, longer where there are several. The timing of a visit to Bay View is set by you, and the travel is our side of the planning.
- We look at the canopy, filters and troughs first.
- Once the kitchen has closed, the cooking line is cooled and sheeted.
- We lift out the filters and scrape the plenum and housing.
- The canopy shell, seams, troughs and gutters are degreased inside and out.
- Filters are refitted, the area cleaned down and the photo report put together.
Getting ready for the visit
- Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
- Mention any parking or loading restrictions
Ask for a quote
Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Big or complicated sites, and systems that are hard to see in pictures, get a survey first. Either way, you get a fixed price before work begins.
Related advice
Different parts, different methods
Pub and hotel kitchens
Pub and hotel kitchens can cook from breakfast to late evening. That is a lot of grease on the canopy, so it may need cleaning between full TR19 cleans.
Plenums and filter housings
A plenum that hasn’t been cleaned for a long time can hold a thick layer of grease. Heavy deposits are scraped out by hand before degreasing.
For landlords and multi-site operators
We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Shared systems, like a riser serving several units, need a clear agreement on who books the work, and we can quote for the whole system.
Running several sites is easier with one contractor. We cover South East England and London, so a run of sites can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.
Leave it or put it right?
Grease on the canopy is sitting just above the heat source. A flare-up can catch it and be drawn into the plenum and duct, where a fire is much harder to stop. A clean canopy takes that fuel away. It’s simpler to plan the work at Bay View now than to arrange it in a hurry later.
You will not find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. Call for a fixed quote, and we will explain what it covers.
What you get with us
- Work around your opening hours, with 24/7 emergency cover
- A BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease
- Every job surveyed first
- A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London
How we price canopy cleaning
The survey tells us what the work involves. The main factors are:
- How big the system is
- What state the system is in
- Travel, parking and unloading
- When the work can happen, such as evenings, overnight or weekends
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before any work starts.
Asking for a quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in touch, it helps to send:
- When the site is open and when it’s quiet
- Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
- Where the plant sits or the system leaves the building, such as a roof or outside wall
To help us quote: the address, the type of site and when it’s open, a few pictures and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Once you have those, phone us on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.
In-house cleaning or a specialist?
Logging matters as much as cleaning. A simple log of filter washes, wipe-downs and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.
Staff cleaning doesn’t replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you can’t see still need a specialist at the right interval.
Questions from Bay View
Which fire and rescue service is responsible for Bay View?
Fire safety enforcement in Bay View is handled by Kent Fire and Rescue Service. A recent cleaning certificate and a note of the next clean date show that grease in the extract is being managed.
Can you work in Bay View outside opening hours?
Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. It means the site in Bay View keeps running as normal. Your opening times are the first thing we ask for.
Which canopies and hoods do you clean?
Wall and island canopies, long cooking-line hoods and small single hoods. Each one is cleaned inside and out, with the plenum behind the filters.
What paperwork do I get after a canopy clean?
Before and after photos go into a report that lists what was cleaned and anything we couldn’t reach. Where the whole system is cleaned, you also get a TR19 certificate through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.
What causes grease to drip from the hood?
Grease that builds up inside the canopy has to go somewhere. Once the troughs and plenum are full, it runs down and drips, often mixed with condensation. A thorough clean stops it.
What information do you need?
Just the basics: where it is, what kind of site, when it’s open and the access. Photos and the last report help too. Then ring 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form.
Is TR19 a legal requirement?
No. TR19® itself isn’t law; it’s a BESA specification. The law is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which makes the responsible person assess and reduce fire risk, and cleaning to TR19® is the recognised way to show grease is under control.
How do you protect the area?
We cover floors and nearby surfaces with sheeting before we start, and waste is contained as we go. Before we leave, we tidy up and clean down.
When to call us in Bay View
Air straight off the range hits the canopy first. Fat in that air settles on the inside of the hood, in its seams and on the filters, and the plenum behind them collects the rest.
What we’re most often called out for:
- Filters that never seem to stay clean
- Grease channels that no longer drain
- Grease dripping from the canopy edge
- Condensation running down the canopy
In and around Bay View, as anywhere, the clean ends with a TR19® certificate and a photo report.
What your quote should include
- How they set the interval to the next visit
- What hours they’ll be on site
- What records you’ll receive afterwards
- What’s included in the scope, part by part
