Canopy cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Albury

A greasy canopy tells an inspector a lot before they’ve opened anything. What isn’t seen, behind the filters, tends to be worse. Canopy cleaning deals with both, so the hood looks right and works properly. The work covers plenum chambers, island canopies and wall canopies, and common reasons people get in touch are a canopy that no longer draws the smoke away and overflowing grease troughs and gutters.

For a kitchen in or near Albury, the visit is planned around opening hours and the journey, and the clean itself is the same full TR19® job as in any town: canopy, filters, duct, fan and discharge, with a certificate and photo report at the end.

Our accreditations include CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured. On top of that, we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

Different parts, different methods

Pub and hotel kitchens

Pub and hotel kitchens can cook from breakfast to late evening. Long hours mean the canopy collects grease fast, so it may need cleaning between full TR19 cleans.

Grease troughs and gutters

Drips from the canopy edge often start in a full gutter. Cleaning it clears the drip.

Canopy cleaning around Albury

According to Food Standards Agency records, there are about 4 pubs, bars and clubs in Albury and the streets around it, up to about 1.5 miles out. A pub or hotel kitchen that cooks every day builds up grease in its extract like any other. Food hygiene inspections in Albury are the job of Guildford council’s environmental health team. The cleanliness of the kitchen and its equipment, extraction included, is part of what they check. Keeping each certificate and photo report on file helps show the extract is looked after. Albury is covered by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. Grease in a kitchen extract is a recognised fire risk, and the fire authority enforces the law on managing it in most commercial premises.

Volunteers running a hall kitchen near Church of St Peter and St Paul, or anywhere in Albury, may not know when the extract was last cleaned, and a grease test settles it. Older buildings often hide long, awkward duct runs, and if you run a kitchen at a historic venue in the area (Chilworth Manor is about 1.5 miles west), access may need planning. A hospital like St. Luke’s Hospital, about 3 miles north-west, is the kind of site where a kitchen may cook for patients, staff and visitors all day.

Albury is about 4 miles south-east of Guildford, in Surrey. From the centre of Albury to the outskirts, we cover canopy cleaning for every kind of premises, from a single unit to a large public building. Albury is one of 395 places in Surrey where we work for commercial clients.

FAQs for Albury

Can you work in Albury outside opening hours?

Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. Your customers, staff or residents in Albury needn’t be disturbed. Let us know the hours you are closed and we’ll book within them.

Do you work in villages like Albury?

Yes, we work in villages as well as towns, and Albury is covered. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.

What causes grease to drip from the hood?

Grease that builds up inside the canopy has to go somewhere. Once the troughs and plenum are full, it runs down and drips, often mixed with condensation. Cleaning removes the cause.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. For many sites, photos and a few details are enough, and larger or hidden systems get a visit.

Can you look after several sites?

Yes. You deal with one contact for every site across London and the South East, with visits on a regular schedule.

What is TR19?

A BESA specification in two main parts: TR19® Grease for kitchen extract systems and TR19® Air for general ventilation. It isn’t law, but it’s the benchmark.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Where the site is, what it is and when it’s open, plus pictures of the system and your last certificate or report if you have one.

Do you clean inside the canopy as well as outside?

We clean the canopy inside and out, along with its seams and grease channels. With the filters out, the plenum and housing are cleaned as well.

How we price canopy cleaning

The quote reflects the site in front of us. We consider:

  • Where the site is and how we reach it
  • Whether it’s a one-off visit or part of a schedule
  • The size of the system
  • What state the system is in

Combining work into one visit or one programme can make for a more efficient booking. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we will price it together.

What we need to know

Before you ask for a quote, gather:

  • Detail shots of panels, filters and grilles
  • When the site is open and when it’s quiet
  • Any symptoms, from odd noises to smells or leaks
  • Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings

To help us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, photos of the system and the last certificate or report, if there is one. Once you have those, ring 0345 646 2711, or email photos.

What staff can safely do

Staff cleaning does not replace a specialist visit; it supports it. Regular in-house cleaning slows the build-up, but the parts you cannot see still need a specialist at the right interval.

Logging matters as much as cleaning. A dated log of in-house cleaning and checks shows an inspector that the system is looked after between visits, next to our reports.

Why it’s worth doing now in Albury

A canopy clean in Albury now stops the grease spreading further. It takes part of a shift for most kitchens, more where there are several canopies or heavy deposits, done while the kitchen is closed. Left alone, grease keeps moving into the plenum and duct. Rural sites cannot always move to another kitchen or room when something fails.

No two sites are the same, so each one gets its own fixed quote. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all make a difference.

Why us?

  • Work around your opening hours, with 24/7 emergency cover
  • A single point of contact for sites across the South East and London
  • Survey first, then a fixed quote
  • A written report with photos after every visit

How the visit works

We are used to working while the site is closed. Evenings, nights and weekends are when much of our work happens, so the site can open as normal afterwards. The visit itself takes part of a shift for most kitchens, more where there are several canopies or heavy deposits. Visits to a village like Albury are booked in advance, at a time that suits whoever runs the site.

  1. We start by checking the canopy, filters and plenum.
  2. Equipment below is switched off and left to cool, then sheeted.
  3. Filters come out and the plenum behind them is scraped and degreased.
  4. We degrease the canopy shell, its seams and the grease troughs.
  5. We refit the filters, clear up and photograph the finished canopy.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions
  • Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
  • Dig out any earlier paperwork for the system

Getting a quote

Every quote begins with a look at the system, either from photos and details you send or from a site visit. Then we send a fixed price so you know the cost before any work starts.

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Think of this as the after-treatment advice, short and simple:

  • Wash or exchange the filters on a regular cycle
  • Check filters are not leaving gaps
  • Tell us when the canopy starts to drip
  • Empty the grease troughs before they fill

File the report alongside your fire risk assessment, so it’s ready when an EHO, insurer or fire officer asks. Before and after pictures speak for themselves.

The best thing a kitchen can do for its canopy is keep the filters clean. Keep them on a regular cleaning or exchange cycle, and make sure they’re all in place before cooking. Less grease gets into the plenum as a result.

For landlords and multi-site operators

Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We cover South East England and London, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.

Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Every visit ends with a dated report and pictures, so you can show an insurer or inspector what was done at each site.
