AHU cleaning in Woolston

An air handling unit is the heart of a building’s ventilation: it draws air in, filters it, heats or cools it and pushes it round the ductwork. Whatever builds up inside it travels with that air, so cleaning the unit matters as much as cleaning the ducts. We’re often asked to deal with dust-coated heating and cooling coils and plant that needs cleaning after a refit, on dampers and louvres, heating and cooling coils and filter sections.

For a building near Woolston, the visit is planned around how it’s used, and the journey is planned ahead. The method doesn’t change: inspect first, clean, then record what was done.

We’ve been trading since 2009, and we’re a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. We also hold CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we carry full insurance.

What your team can do, and what needs us

Away from the kitchen, the in-house job is mainly checking: clear grilles, a log of filter changes and reporting anything odd. Cleaning inside ducts and units is specialist work.

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping down canopy surfaces, cleaning filters and keeping a simple log. What they cannot safely do is clean inside the ductwork, the fan or the risers, which is where we come in.

Why act early in Woolston

When the unit is clean, less dirt reaches the ducts, so the whole system stays cleaner for longer. That makes the next inspection of a building in Woolston simpler. You choose the date of a planned visit, and a breakdown never asks.

You will not find a price list here, because the cost depends on the site in front of us. For a fixed quote, give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email, and we’ll talk you through it.

How the visit works

Your staff don’t need to do much on the day. A contact on site lets us in at the agreed time and points us to the system, and we take it from there. Before we leave, the area is tidied and the paperwork follows. Tell us when your site near Woolston is quiet and the visit will be booked for then.

  1. The survey covers the unit, its access and how it can be shut down.
  2. The area is protected and the unit made safe.
  3. Dirt and debris are removed from each section.
  4. Coils and trays are cleaned and the condensate drain cleared.
  5. We close every panel, hand the unit back and send the report and certificate.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking and loading
  • Let us know about permits to work or site inductions
  • Find the previous report, if there is one

Managing agents and facilities teams in Woolston

We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we can quote for the whole system.

Whether it’s one building or many, you get the same standard: diagnosis, a fixed price, work booked around your hours and a written report with pictures.

How we price AHU cleaning

The quote reflects the site in front of us. We consider:

  • Access, including roofs, risers and ceiling voids
  • Working hours and out-of-hours timing
  • Whether several sites go on one quote
  • Site requirements such as sign-in and permits

Whatever the type of site, the quote works the same way: the size of the job, access, condition and working hours. Ask for a fixed quote and we’ll explain each part.

Helping us quote

To help us quote quickly, send us:

  • The times we could work without disrupting the site
  • The postcode and the type of business
  • Any access panels or hatches you can see
  • Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow

Getting a quote does not take long. Send a few details and pictures, and we usually reply with a fixed quote within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.

Woolston questions

Can the work in Woolston be done at night or at weekends?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. It means the site in Woolston keeps running as normal. Just call 0345 646 2711, or send details by email with your opening times and we will plan around them.

Can a school’s ventilation in Woolston be done out of term time?

Yes. The holidays are the usual time for school work. With about 28 schools and colleges on the FSA’s register within roughly a mile and a half of Woolston, it pays to plan holiday dates ahead. Send us your term dates when you phone us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email, and we will fit the work in.

What do you do to protect the area?

Floors and surfaces near the work are sheeted before any work starts, and waste is contained as we go. Before we leave, we tidy up and clean down.

How long does it take to clean an air handling unit?

It takes one overnight shift for many single units, with bigger plant phased. The unit’s size and condition make the biggest difference, and the quote will give you a clear idea.

Are you accredited?

BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001. We’ve been trading since 2009 and we are fully insured.

How far ahead should we book?

Earlier is better, particularly for night and weekend visits. We normally quote within one working day, and there’s a 24/7 line for emergencies.

Will you repair the fan or motor?

AHU cleaning is what we offer here, not mechanical repairs. Any faults we notice are recorded for your maintenance team to follow up.

What about areas you can’t get to?

We record them on the report, with pictures where possible, and we explain what access is needed, for example new access panels.

Common problems we fix in Woolston

Most units live out of sight on roofs, in plant rooms or in ceiling voids, so they’re easy to forget about. Months can pass without anyone looking inside.

What we are most often called out for:

  • Plant that needs cleaning after a refit
  • Rooms that smell stuffy when the system runs
  • Air handling units never cleaned inside
  • Fan sections that haven’t been cleaned in years

For workplaces around Woolston station with mechanical ventilation, cleaning can be done in the evening or at weekends.

Comparing quotes

  • If the quote is a fixed price or an estimate

Choosing a duct cleaning contractor

Different parts, different methods

Drain trays

A tray that doesn’t drain becomes a pool of stagnant water in the airstream. We clean it and report anything about the tray or drain that needs fixing.

Heating and cooling coils

Dirt on a coil slows the air and makes it harder for the coil to heat or cool. A clean gets air moving through the coil properly again.
