Air handling unit cleaning in Salford, Oxfordshire
Our technicians work in Salford on AHU cleaning. Fixed quotes, work around your opening hours and photo reports as standard.
- Dirty filters cutting the airflow
- Leaves and litter drawn into the unit
- Stale or musty smells from the ventilation
What affects the cost of AHU cleaning
Every site gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:
- The scale of the work
- One-off work versus a regular cycle
- The condition we find in the survey
- Working hours and out-of-hours timing
Every site is different, so each one gets its own fixed quote. Size, access, the condition of the system and when we can work all make a difference.
What we need to know
To help us quote quickly, please include:
- Photos showing the whole system and its surroundings
- Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
- Anything you’ve noticed, such as smells, noise, drips or poor airflow
- The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it
Quotes are quick. Call or email with a few details and you’ll typically have a fixed price within one working day. If we need to see the system first, we book a survey around your hours.
AHU cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Salford
Our AHU cleaning covers sites in Salford and the rest of Oxfordshire, in offices, schools, hospitals, care homes and retail. Units are cleaned when the site can spare them, often evenings, overnight or weekends. We are often asked to deal with plant that needs cleaning after a refit and rooms that smell stuffy when the system runs, across supply and extract fans, drain trays and heating and cooling coils.
Somewhere as small as Salford, ducted ventilation is usually limited to a school, a care home, a surgery or a converted business building, wherever there is one, but those that do need it inspected and cleaned like any other.
Duct Doctor has been trading since 2009, and we are a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease. CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001 are in place too, and we are fully insured.

What your team can do, and what needs us
A few tasks are always specialist work: entering ducts, working on fans, testing dampers and taking grease readings need training, the right equipment and safe access. Leave those to us.
If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that will not come clean, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We’ll take a look and send you a fixed quote.
Do you need AHU cleaning in Salford?
Filters that are not changed or cleaned on time clog up, which cuts the airflow and can let air slip round the filter. After that, the coils and fan collect what the filter should have caught.
These are the problems we see most often:
- Condensate trays that won’t empty
- Air handling units due a clean after building work
- Filters that are clogged or overdue
- Air handling units never cleaned inside
For buildings in and around Salford, TR19® Air cleaning starts with an inspection.

Different parts, different methods
Rooftop and plant room units
Units on roofs and in plant rooms can be awkward to reach. We plan safe access as part of the survey so the quote reflects it.
Internal casing and panels
We open each section through its doors and close them securely when we’re done before the unit is handed back.
Questions from Salford
Will you come out to Salford?
Yes. Villages and rural sites across the South East are part of our work, Salford included. The journey is planned ahead, so a few details about the route help.
Do you work at weekends in Salford?
Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. The work in Salford can fit around your hours. Tell us your opening hours when you ask for a quote.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Scheduled maintenance plans are part of what we do, with visits at the interval your system needs. The report from each visit recommends the next date.
Can one contract cover all our sites?
Yes. We work across South East England and London, so sites at different addresses can be planned together on one programme. Each site gets its own report and photos.
How long does an AHU clean take?
As a guide, it takes half a day to a full day per unit, with large plant planned over several shifts. We plan the shutdown around that, out of hours if needed.
How much does AHU cleaning cost?
Size, condition, access and working hours all affect the cost. Call for a fixed quote and we’ll usually reply within one working day.
Do you do ventilation duct cleaning too?
Yes. Ventilation ductwork cleaning to TR19® Air is part of what we do. It’s often worth doing both at once, and we can quote for both.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. Duct Doctor is fully insured, and we can share the details when you need them.
Honest limits
We will always give you a straight diagnosis, so here’s what AHU cleaning won’t do:
- Mechanical faults with motors, belts or bearings
- Ventilation that was badly designed in the first place
- Controls and BMS settings that run the unit
Not sure which it is? You can give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or use the quote form and we will tell you honestly before booking.
Parts of the system we cover
- Supply and extract fans
- Dampers and louvres
- Internal panels
- Drain trays
- Heating and cooling coils
- Filter sections
How the visit works
We turn up at the time agreed with you, which is often after service, overnight or at a weekend. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool before we start, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. On site, it takes one overnight shift for many single units, with bigger plant phased. Seeing the system in photos first means the trip to Salford can be planned properly.
- We start with a survey of the unit and a fixed quote for the work.
- We arrange the shutdown with your staff and sheet the area.
- Filters, coils, fan section and casing are cleaned in turn.
- We clean out the drain tray and make sure it drains.
- We close up the unit and send the certificate and before and after photos.
Before we arrive
- Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down
- Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
- Name a contact who can let us in at the agreed time
Getting a quote
Here’s what helps us quote: where the site is, what it is and its opening hours, a few photos and any previous report or certificate. Then ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line.
Advice
What happens if it’s left?
Cleaning a unit while it only has light dust is quick. Years of build-up make the job longer and harder, particularly where damp has made it stick. If the system at a site near Salford fails, there may be nowhere nearby to move to.
Leaving it longer rarely makes the work cheaper. Build-up, wear and faults tend to get worse, not better, which can make the next visit longer. If you are unsure, phone us on 0345 646 2711, or email photos and we will give you an honest view and a fixed quote.
