AHU cleaning for sites in Meriden

About our AHU cleaning in Meriden

Coils are where a lot of the dirt ends up. A coated coil restricts airflow and makes the unit work harder. We clean coils with methods suited to their condition, taking care not to damage the fins. If you’re dealing with rooms that smell stuffy when the system runs and air handling units with blocked filters, we can help.

Visits to a place like Meriden are fitted around opening hours. The work is the same as in any town: inspect, clean, record.

We’re CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, we hold ISO 9001 and we’re fully insured. We are also a BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite member, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, and we have been trading since 2009.

Why deal with it now?

A light clean now is simpler than a heavy one later. Years of build-up make the job longer and harder, particularly where damp has made it stick. A visit arranged in advance is far less disruptive than a callout on a busy day.

When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is all affect the cost. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before work begins.

What you get with us

  • CHAS and SafeContractor accredited, with ISO 9001
  • Member of BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease
  • Each visit written up, with pictures
  • A fixed price before any work starts

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We will take a look and give you a fixed quote.

Your own staff can handle the daily basics: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, and that’s where we come in.

What a clean won’t put right

Not every problem is solved by AHU cleaning, and we’d rather say so up front. It does not solve:

  • Ductwork downstream of the unit, which is a separate clean
  • Ventilation that was badly designed in the first place
  • Damaged coils beyond cleaning

Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll tell you honestly.

What the work covers

  • Internal panels
  • Drain trays
  • Filter sections
  • Supply and extract fans
  • Dampers and louvres
  • Heating and cooling coils

Meriden questions

Can the work in Meriden be done at night or at weekends?

Yes, evening, overnight and weekend work is normal for us. It means the site in Meriden keeps running as normal. Let us know the hours you are closed and we’ll book within them.

Can a school’s ventilation in Meriden be done out of term time?

Yes, holiday work suits schools best. The FSA’s register shows about 26 schools and colleges with food registrations within roughly a mile and a half of Meriden. Tell us your holiday dates and we’ll book the visit for when the site is empty.

How much does AHU cleaning cost in Meriden?

There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: the size of the system, its condition, access and when we can work. You get a fixed price before work begins.

Do you have a 24/7 line?

Yes, 24/7. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, and the emergency line covers the rest.

What does TR19 mean?

TR19® is BESA’s specification for ventilation hygiene. Since 2019, TR19® Grease has been a standalone specification for grease in kitchen extract systems, and TR19® Air covers general supply and extract systems.

Where does the waste go?

It leaves the site with us at the end of the visit. While we work, it’s kept contained so the area stays clean.

When should our AHU next be cleaned?

That is set by inspection, in line with TR19® Air. Units in heavy use or in sensitive buildings may need attention more often.

How much notice do you need?

Book as early as you can for planned work, especially if the next clean or test is due soon. Emergencies are different, because our line is open 24/7.

The process

We’re used to working while the site is closed. A lot of visits happen overnight or at weekends, so the site can open as normal afterwards. On site, the work takes a single shift for a typical unit, longer for large or heavily soiled ones. In a place like Meriden, we fit the visit around your hours.

  1. We start with a survey of the unit and a fixed quote for the work.
  2. The unit is shut down with your site team and the area protected.
  3. We clean or change the filters as agreed, then clean the coils, fan and internal panels.
  4. Standing water and slime come out of the tray and the drain is checked.
  5. We close up the unit and send the certificate and before and after pictures.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for cooking equipment or plant to be off before we arrive
  • Have your last certificate or report to hand
  • Let us know how we reach the system, including roofs, risers and plant rooms

How to get a quote

Photos are enough for some jobs, while others need a look on site. Larger sites, and anything hidden behind walls, ceilings or floors, are normally surveyed first. Either way, the quote is fixed before any work is booked.

Multi-site and managed buildings

Where a tenant occupies the premises but the landlord owns the building, the lease normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party, and the report can go to both.

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must assess and reduce fire risk, which may be the employer, owner, landlord, FM or managing agent. Where responsibility is shared, records matter even more.

When to call us in Meriden

An overdue filter loads up with dirt, which cuts the airflow and can let air slip round the filter. Then the rest of the unit takes the load.

These are the problems we see most often:

  • Units that have only ever had filter changes
  • Units needing a clean before a new tenant or handover
  • Debris and leaves in the fresh air intake
  • Condensate trays that will not empty

If you manage shops or offices close to Garston station, a TR19® Air inspection shows whether the ductwork needs cleaning.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether the quote is based on a survey or photos
  • Whether the figure could change on the day
  • Whether the quote shows VAT
  • Exactly which parts of the system are covered
