What we are called out for in Crockhurst Street
Air handling units are normally tucked away on roofs, in plant rooms or above ceilings and are rarely seen by anyone but maintenance staff. It’s easy for a long time to go by without anyone opening the panels.
Look out for any of the following:
- Dust built up on fan impellers
- Coils clogged with dust and debris
- Condensate trays that won’t empty
- Leaves and litter drawn into the unit
School buildings such as Capel Primary School are normally done in the holidays, so classrooms are not disturbed.

- What hours they’ll be on site
- What insurance they carry
- How they set the interval to the next visit
- If the quote is a fixed price or an estimate
AHU cleaning for kitchens and businesses in Crockhurst Street
If the units serving a building in Crockhurst Street have only had filter changes for years, the coils, fan and casing can be carrying far more dirt than anyone has seen. A full clean deals with all of it. We’re often asked to deal with dirty filters cutting the airflow and units that have only ever had filter changes, across drain trays, internal panels and dampers and louvres.
In a village or hamlet like Crockhurst Street, few buildings have mechanical ventilation, but those that do need it inspected and cleaned like any other.
Accreditations are easy to claim and worth checking. Ours are BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite membership, cleaning to BESA TR19® Grease, plus CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO 9001, and we’re fully insured.

For landlords and multi-site operators
We work for landlords, managing agents and facilities managers as well as the people running the site. Where a system serves more than one tenant, such as a shared riser, it helps to agree who arranges the work, and we can quote for the whole system.
Multi-site operators often want one contractor and one number. We work across London and the South East, so visits at different addresses can be planned together and kept on a regular cycle.

When it’s something else
Before booking, it helps to know what’s not included:
- A system that is undersized for the building
- Leaking heating or cooling coils
- Ductwork downstream of the unit, which is a separate clean
If you are not sure, just call 0345 646 2711 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
Where we work
- Internal panels
- Drain trays
- Filter sections
- Supply and extract fans
- Dampers and louvres
- Heating and cooling coils
What happens if it’s left?
Leave an AHU uncleaned and the dirt doesn’t stay put. It moves on into the ductwork and out into the rooms, so cleaning the ducts without the unit only goes so far. Out of sight is the usual reason a rural system goes too long without attention.
When the work has to happen, how we reach it and how big the site is can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before work begins.

Crockhurst Street questions
Do you work overnight in Crockhurst Street?
Yes, out-of-hours work is a big part of what we do. The work in Crockhurst Street can fit around your hours. Just give us a ring on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email with your opening times and we’ll plan around them.
Do you cover smaller places like Crockhurst Street?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. A survey first, from photos or a visit, means we arrive with the right kit.
Is a quote from photos possible?
In many cases, yes. Photos of the system and the access, plus your opening hours and last report, are often enough. Where we can’t see enough, we arrange a survey.
Which sectors do you work in?
Restaurants and pubs, hotels, schools and colleges, hospitals and care homes, offices and retail, plus food production and leisure sites.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. Full insurance covers our work and have been trading since 2009.
How much notice do you need?
Earlier is better, especially for out-of-hours work. We usually quote within one working day, and there’s a 24/7 line for emergencies.
Can you look after several sites?
Yes. One number covers all your sites in our area, and visits can be set on a regular cycle.
What’s included in an AHU clean?
Every section that collects dirt: filters, coils, tray, fan and panels. The survey confirms what’s in your unit before we quote.
Part by part
Heating and cooling coils
Heating and cooling coils have tightly packed fins that trap fine dust. They’re cleaned using methods that won’t bend or flatten the fins.
Filters
Dirty filters cut airflow and let dirt slip past their frames. We clean the frames and rails so the filters sit tight.
What happens on the day
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you, often in the evening, overnight or at the weekend so the site keeps working. Equipment that has to be off is switched off and allowed to cool first, and floors and nearby surfaces are sheeted. The work itself takes from a few hours for a compact unit to a day or more for a large one. If you can send pictures, we can arrive in Crockhurst Street knowing what to expect.
- We survey the unit from pictures or on site and agree what’s included.
- With your site team, the unit is switched off and isolated, then the area around it protected.
- Filters, coils, fan section and casing are cleaned in turn.
- We clean out the drain tray and make sure it drains.
- We close up the unit and send the certificate and before and after pictures.
Before we arrive
- Mention any parking or loading restrictions
- Make sure someone can let us in and lock up afterwards
- Let us know when the site is closed or quiet

Related advice
Staff cleaning versus specialist work
Staff cleaning and specialist work are not the same thing. A daily filter wipe and a weekly filter wash keep grease down at the front of the system, but they don’t reach the grease that builds up further in. Reaching it takes a specialist with the right equipment.
If your staff spot something between visits, like drips, unusual noise, smells or damaged filters, they should report it rather than try to fix it. We will take a look and give you a fixed quote.
