AHU cleaning for sites in Ascot

About our AHU cleaning in Ascot

An AHU clean is a thorough examination and treatment of the unit. Every section is opened, cleaned and photographed, so you can see the unit’s condition for yourself. If you are dealing with dirty coils holding back the airflow and intake sections clogged with outdoor debris, we can put it right.

For a building in or near Ascot, access is agreed in advance and the visit is planned around the journey.

Each visit ends with a written report and pictures, so you have a record of what was done and when. Where the work is a TR19® Grease clean, the certificate is issued through the BESCA Vent Hygiene Elite portal.

What affects the cost of AHU cleaning

We don’t publish a price list, because sites vary so much. What we look at:

  • The scale of the work
  • What state the system is in
  • The times the site is available
  • Whether several sites go on one quote

Several systems or sites on one quote can make for a more efficient booking. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at, and you will get one fixed quote.

Helping us quote

When you contact us, these details help:

  • Close-ups of filters, grilles, hatches or access panels
  • The site address and the type of premises
  • The roof, plant room or outside wall the system runs to
  • The paperwork from the last visit, if you have it

If you need AHU cleaning in Ascot, call us on 0345 646 2711 or send us an email. Let us know the site type and the opening hours, plus photos or the previous report if they’re to hand. We normally send a fixed quote within one working day.

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Records are where multi-site compliance often slips. Each visit produces a dated report with pictures, ready to show insurers, fire officers or EHOs.

We also work for facilities teams across offices, schools and healthcare across Windsor and Maidenhead. Work can be phased by floor, building or site around the people who use them.

FAQs for Ascot

Can ventilation in schools around Ascot be cleaned out of term?

Yes. Half-terms and the summer break are the natural time for school work. There are about 14 schools, colleges and universities on the FSA’s food hygiene register within about 1.5 miles of Ascot. Booking early in the term gives the best choice of holiday dates.

Can the work in Ascot be done at night or at weekends?

Yes. We work evenings, overnight and at weekends. The work in Ascot can fit around your hours. When you ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line, mention when the site is quiet.

Do you repair air handling units?

Our AHU work is cleaning rather than mechanical repair. Any faults we notice are recorded for your maintenance team to follow up.

What does AHU cleaning cost?

We don’t publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: the size of the system, its condition, access and when we can work. We fix the price before we start.

Do you work with multi-site operators?

Yes. You deal with one contact for every site in our area, and visits can be set on a regular cycle.

Is Ascot in your area?

Yes. Ascot is part of the area we cover, within the South East and London area we cover.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, fully. We also hold CHAS and SafeContractor, for sites that check contractor safety.

How do you keep the site clean during the work?

With sheeting and covers, before anything else happens. We keep the work contained and leave the area clean.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep the system working properly between visits:

  • Flag stale or damp smells in the supply air
  • Don’t store bins or materials near the intake
  • Check the drain tray is emptying during routine visits
  • Stick to the filter change plan

If the ductwork hasn’t been cleaned, consider it next. Cleaning the unit and ducts together gives the best result, and we can quote for both.

Regular inspection under TR19® Air shows when cleaning is due, rather than waiting for a problem.

The process

Before we leave, we walk the area with whoever is on site. We point out anything that couldn’t be reached or needs a follow-up, and the same goes into the written report. All told, the work takes half a day to a full day per unit, with large plant planned over several shifts. In a small place like Ascot, the journey is planned ahead and the visit arranged around the site’s hours.

  1. The survey covers the unit, its access and how it can be shut down.
  2. We sheet the area and the unit is isolated.
  3. Each section is cleaned of dust, debris and slime.
  4. Coils and trays are cleaned and the condensate drain cleared.
  5. We close every panel, hand the unit back and send the report and certificate.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking or loading restrictions
  • Let us know when the site is closed or quiet
  • Allow time for equipment near the work to be turned off and cool down

Ask for a quote

The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: wide shots of the system, close-ups of anything that worries you and how we’d get to it. Tell us what kind of site it is and when it’s open, and many jobs can be priced from that alone.

Advice

Different parts, different methods

Drain trays

Older trays can corrode and start leaking. Their condition goes into the report with photos so repairs can be planned.

Internal casing and panels

The inside walls and floor of the casing collect dust and debris. We clean each section from intake to discharge.

In-house cleaning or a specialist?

If your staff spot something between visits, such as dripping grease, a noisy fan, a smell or a filter that won’t come clean, it’s best reported rather than tackled in-house. We can diagnose it and quote.

Day-to-day cleaning is something your team can do: wiping canopies, washing grease filters and recording it in a log. Inside the ducts, risers and fan is specialist work, which is where we come in.

What a clean will not put right

We will not sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so here are the limits:

  • Ductwork downstream of the unit, which is a separate clean
  • Building management system faults
  • Faulty motors, drives or bearings

If in doubt, ring 0345 646 2711 or drop us a line and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Parts of the system we cover

  • Supply and extract fans
  • Internal panels
  • Drain trays
  • Heating and cooling coils
  • Filter sections
  • Dampers and louvres

Ascot buildings and their air

The FSA’s food hygiene register lists about 14 schools, colleges and universities and about 8 hospitals, care homes and childcare premises with registered kitchens or food service within about 1.5 miles of central Ascot. Classrooms, bedrooms and care spaces are often served by ducted air, and that ductwork collects dust over time. At about 25 miles from central London, Ascot sits well inside the area we cover. Evening, overnight and weekend visits are all possible. The nearest hospital to Ascot is Heatherwood Hospital, about 0.8 miles west. Clean air matters most where people are unwell, and that is as true in a care home as in a hospital.

If you run a surgery, dental practice or care home near Ascot, clean ventilation matters as much to you as to a hospital like Heatherwood Hospital (about 0.8 miles west). Classrooms and halls at schools such as South Ascot Village Primary School are easiest to work in when pupils are away. For workplaces around Ascot station with mechanical ventilation, cleaning can be done in the evening or at weekends.
